I am researching the family of John CARMODY, b 1814-1820 in County Kerry, Ireland. He married Hannah LOONEY b 1834 in Kerry. Four children born in IRE were Edward (my grandfather) b Feb 1856, baptised while living in Beale, Kinconly, civil parish in Kerry, Michael L b Apr 1858, Johannah (Hannah) b 1862 and John b 1864. In 1864, the family moved to USA and settled on a farm in Sherburne County, Minnesota. Children born there were Daniel, 1867, William,1869, Mary, 1871, Margaret, 1872, Lizzie, 1875 and Lou. John's brother, William E CARMODY, b 1822, came to US in 1851. He married Mary SEXTON, b 1826 in Limerick, and settled in the same area. Children were Elizabeth 1856, Ann 1858, John Edward 1860, Harriette 1862, Octavia 1864 and Josephine 1872. Parents of John and William were Edward CARMODY and Sarah LEONARD, both born in Ireland. Sarah died in 1874 in St Paul, Minnesota. - But there is no death record. She willed her land in Blue Hill, Sherburne County to her eldest son, John CARMODY. There are no records of her or Edward in the census. No probate records showing a land transfer from Edward to Sarah. No death record of Edward. Did they both come over or did Edward die in Ireland? Did she live on her land or in St Paul.? Any information on the CARMODYs, LOONEYs or LEONARDs would be greatly appreciated Peggy Carmody Carver
