Do you know for sure if Patrick and Bridget had a son called Patrick? I have collected a lot of documents over the last two years just on the off chance they were relevant to my family and after your last e-mail I find that I have relevant ones.I have PatrickCarmody Immigrant record from the Magistrate also his brother John who came on the Fairlie, on his it says that his mother, another Bridget is dead but his father John is alive. I have the baptism of James and Joseph but the surname of Bridget being Doohan and they lived at Page and because of this I didn't think that they were related. I would like to hear more about them.I have the birth of a Patrick Carmody born 18th July 1852 to John and Bridget Consedine and I have Bridget's death 23rd Feb.1885 and Patrick was 32yrs at the time of her death so I now know for sure that this Patrick is not mine but maybe a cousin. I have Margaret Carmady's marriage to Michael Brigdale in Armidale 1/8/1868 but I also have a marriage of a Margaret Helena Carmody to John Ward ,a widower, in Kelso near Bathurst on the 4/2/1861and one of the witnesses were a Catherine Vines, any relation to you ? My cousin and fellow researcher Jan Mulcahy, we are related by our great grandmother's Mary Jane and Alice Kate Loten, she is writing the family book and I have been helping her with the research but I hit a brick wall with Patrick but Mary's side was a lot easier so I hope you can knock down that wall for me and we will have some new information to add to the book. Patrick Carmody and Mary Jane Loten's children were: Herbert Going b. 19/10/1867 Strathbogie d. Tasmania never married. Sydney Ernest b. 30/7/1869 Strathbogie d.9/5/1946 Bellingen married Alice McFadden 6/3/1889 James Pecival b.10/2/1872 Strathbogie d.9/10/1947 Scott's Creek, near Taree married Sarah Smith 1893 Francis Richard b.16/2/1874 Vegetable Creek now Emmaville d.12/8/1943 Coff's Harbour married Ann Sarah Atkins 16/5/1898 These are my grandparents Patrick supposedly died from a fall form a horse three months after the birth of Francis but no death certificate can be found. All I have to go on is an entry made on Mary's application to enter theSydney Benevolent Society to give birth to her fifth child she stated that Patrick had deserted her and that she had a warrant out after him but if he is dead then how can this be. Patrick's name is on the birth certificate but it is now 31/8/1876. We do know that took her four boys back to her father in Taree in 1874 and became pregnant some time in December 1875 to whom we don't know for sure but she gave the child the middle name of Ritchie but then it was the maiden name of her sister inlaw Kate Ritchie. She went to Sydney early in her pregnancy and must have been free and easy as the little girl she gave birth to had conjenital Syphilis and died at two weeks. The full name was Nina Ritchie Carmady. We looked up information on Syphilis and the unborn child contracts it at about the fourth month. Mary did survive long enough to marry an American, Edward Griffen 10/12/1877and she gave birth to another girl. Minnie Katherine Griffen on the 29/4/1879 Mary died 20/5/1879 from TB which was what killed her mother at the age of 33yrs and many of her family. So that is my great grandmother's story. I hope to find more about Patrick. I haven't given up yet. Regards Karelle
