My great-grandfather was John Michael Carmody, born in Limerick in 1857, according to family lore. But his family was apparently from Ennis, County Clare. His father was Michael John Carmody. I don't know at what point this Carmody branch moved from Ennis to Limerick. John Michael had a sister named Nora (born circa 1869) and a brother named Timothy (I think Timothy died young). Michael John Carmody (who died circa 1868, despite that his daughter Nora was born the following year, according to my records--very possible that the dates are off a bit) married Margaret Connors (born 1833).
