At the time that my great grandfather Patrick Carmody and his brother John came to Australia both as assisted immigrants their father John Carmody was still alive and working as a farmer at Kilmurry, Co.Clare. Patrick arrived in 1838 and his brother arrived 1841 and on his shipping details it says their mother was Bridget but she is dead. Patrick was born at Kilmurray but John was born at Ennis. In the Griffith Valuation of 1855 a John Carmody was living Kilmore village of Knock Kilmurry, Co. Clare but there were 6 John Carmody's living at Ennis and I also found the death of a John Carmody age 76 yrs reported in the Cork Examiner. He died 16th August 1881 Ennistymon, Co. Clare. But I'm not sure if any of these are my great great grandfather. Sorry I can't tell you any more than this.
