I too, have a Patrick CARMODY in my ancestry file. The brother of my Grandfather who immigrated from London area of England. his parents born in Cork. Patrick was born in 1868, and went on to become a guard at a asylum/hospital and from that time on according to census disappears, or at least no match shown to date. All that after 40+ years of searching this Carmody family. Have found the siblings but not him, tho I have come across 2 possibilities with help of site in england called Lost cousins. The one Patrick that intrigued me was the relationship to Mulcahy, as this was my Grandmother's name. Nora Mulcahy b. 1859 Kanturk cork, came to USA in 1886 married John Sullivan, had 8 children, only 3 alive by 1900 and now a widow. she then married my Grandfather John Carmody.
