Classification: Queries Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/UiH.2ACIB/155 Message Board Post: I have a whole bunch of information on Malachi and Mary Beecher Carmody. I didn't know her maiden name. They were married in 1858 not 1837. He was born in 1832. They arrived in USA in 1848. His father's name was Thomas. thomas' first wife was Margaret O'Lochlan. After coming to USA Thomas remarried-Bridget McDonough. Thomas and Margaret had 3 children who lived, Bridget, Malachi and Margaret. Thomas and bridget had 4 children, Ann, John, Catherine and Patrick. Thomas might have been called Pat and that causes confusion. Thomas was my gggrandfathers brother and the first Irishman to come to Carrollton. One of your cousins (closer than I am) has Malachi's obituary. Mike Carmody
RE: messages about John Carmody's. I received your message re John ( OBrien) Carmody via the Carmody list and am interested in having more information as to any CARMODY's you might have. Jusr where is CARROLLTON- is this in the USA or in Ireland, and if so what County? I am leaving in the next 10 days for a research /vacation trip to Ireland and this information may come in handy-if I can match it to anything of mine. And will have no access to computer for the following month. So I would appreciate an answer asap. My computer cannot accept attachments unfortunatly so if you have info it would have to come as reg. e-mail or snail mail. I am aware of a Martin Carmody from sometime around 1800-1850 period a possible relative somewhere along the line. I am very interested also in any Dennis and Patricks related to John. I have a John claiming to be born in Liscarroll, Co. according to US Army pension papers, but according to Brit. 1881 census, born in Harlington, Middlesex Co.( suburb of London,Eng.) Thank you Pat Carmody ( mystarz@mindspring.com)

I have the complete record of the Hanora O'Brien/Jphn Carmody. John O'Brien Carmody was a brother of my great grandfather Martin Carmody. Othe relatives especially descendants of John O'Brien Carmody are still around here. We have a family reunion around July 4 every other year. It is in Carrollton. The John you are talking about is not the same one that Monica refers to. My father told me that at one time there were about 12 John Carmodys in carrollton so they went by there mothers maiden name, thus John O'Brien Carmody and my grandfather John O'Lochlon Carmody or just J.O.L. Please contact me and I will send you what I have. I have church records on all the Carmodys. Mike
To the Hilliard Dillenbergers - I don't know how much this means but my grandma Kathleen Carmody was born in Limerick City, Co. Limerick and came here in 1922. She had a brother named John that was already here who lived on Charlotte Street in Ecorse. Would it be possible that my great grandfather Patrick had a brother named John that follows your family line? Good luck!

LOOKING FOR RELATIVES OF ARMY PRIVATE? PHILIP CARMODY KILLED DURNING WWII BURIED IN ARLINGTON CEMETERY VA. CAN YOU HELP.DJ
I don't think there is any connection. My g-grandmother was Margaret Carmody and married John Cusack. John worked at the Hampden Watch Company and moved with them in the late 1880's to Canton when they were purchased by John Dueber. Margaret hailed from the Kilrush area of County Clare and her mother was Anne Crowe. Her father was a Michael Carmody. She was born in 1864, so she was a recent emigrant and we think met and married John in Springfield. If you have any info or think there is a possible connection, please let me know. Chris Cusack
I am a descendant of Carmodys from the Sprfld area. My grandmother was Ellen T. (Carmody) Kennedy (1878-1953); her father was Jeremiah J. Carmody (born near Palmer, 1852-died in Southbridge, MA 1931); his father was Thomas Carmody (b. Co. Kerry, 1799-died, Chicopee Falls, 1872). Jeremiah's siblings were: John B. Carmody (1833, Kerry-1901, Palmer); Thomas A. Carmody (1838, Kerry-1905, Chicopee Falls); and Bridget (Carmody) Donlon (1840, Kerry-?). Anything sound familiar?

I am researching the family of John CARMODY, b abt 1819 in County Kerry, Ireland. He married Hannah LOONEY, b 1834 in Kerry. I traced them to the townland of Beal in Kilconly parish in Kerry, where my grandfather, Edward was born in 1856. John and his brother, William b 1822, emmigrated to the US and settled in Sherburne co., in Minnesota, where the homesteaded and each raised a large family. Recently several letters were discovered, written by Patrick C. and Morgan HEAFEY of Omaha, Nebraska. They were addressed to the children of John and William, and referred to John as Uncle John and the children as cousins. It would seem that their mother must have been a CARMODY, sister of John and William. Patrick and Morgan were born in Ballylongford, Co. Kerry, Ireland. Patrick, b 1859. Some of the letters were to the HEAFEYs from Ballylongford, from various relatives. Patrick and Morgan had a funeral home in Omaha - HEAFEY & HEAFEY, and were quite active in the community, but I can find no further information on them on line. If anyone knows of this family in Omaha, or Ballylongford, or their connection to the CARMODYs, I would be most grateful. Peggy Carmody Carver PegMikeCarver@aol.com
Our James Carmody fell out of the sky and landed in Nilwood, Macoupin County, Illinois just in time to appear in the 1870 Census with a wife (Bridget A'Hearn) and three children: Mary b. 17 March 1868, Thomas b. 3 April 1869, and Patrick Michael b. 17 December 1869. James was supposidly born 30 January 1829 in Co. Limerick, Ireland and Bridget was supposidly born in Co. Kerry, Ireland sometime thereafter. Bridget appears in the 1870 and 1880 census for Macoupin County and as a witness on an 1896 baptismal certificate but dissapears before the 1900 Census. Her death announcement has not been located in any local newspaper between those two time periods. James was buried in a cemetery in Farmersville, Montgomery Co., IL on 1 Februrary 1916 but the death certificate does not indicate which cemetery. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
