I am researching the family of John CARMODY, b 1814-1820 in County Kerry, Ireland. He married Hannah LOONEY b 1834 in Kerry. Four children born in IRE were Edward (my grandfather) b Feb 1856, baptised while living in Beale, Kinconly, civil parish in Kerry, Michael L b Apr 1858, Johannah (Hannah) b 1862 and John b 1864. In 1864, the family moved to USA and settled on a farm in Sherburne County, Minnesota. Children born there were Daniel, 1867, William,1869, Mary, 1871, Margaret, 1872, Lizzie, 1875 and Lou. John's brother, William E CARMODY, b 1822, came to US in 1851. He married Mary SEXTON, b 1826 in Limerick, and settled in the same area. Children were Elizabeth 1856, Ann 1858, John Edward 1860, Harriette 1862, Octavia 1864 and Josephine 1872. Parents of John and William were Edward CARMODY and Sarah LEONARD, both born in Ireland. Sarah died in 1874 in St Paul, Minnesota. - But there is no death record. She willed her land in Blue Hill, Sherburne County to her eldest son, John CARMODY. There are no records of her or Edward in the census. No probate records showing a land transfer from Edward to Sarah. No death record of Edward. Did they both come over or did Edward die in Ireland? Did she live on her land or in St Paul.? Any information on the CARMODYs, LOONEYs or LEONARDs would be greatly appreciated Peggy Carmody Carver

A newbie, not sure what I"m doing. Looking for Bridget CARMODY , believed to be born in Limerick 1811 and arrived Australia on ship "Magistrate" in 1828. Married John Square Hensleigh in 1832 at St Marys in Sydney died 1883 aged 72 years. The Carmody reunion is held on the Sunday in July closest to the 4th. I would assume that it would be on the 7th. I'll call Joe Carmody and find out for sure. It would be great for you to come to it. If James is a brother to John O'Brien Carmody, then there is a large contingent of you cousins there. One of them is Virginia Knight who is the geneologist (sp) in the family. I don't know what I told you before but Honora O'Brien was the daughter of Martin O'Brien and Hanna (Honora) McDonald. She died on Dec 14 1882 at the age of 85. I don't think the age part is necessarily accurate but probably a guess. My great grandfather was Martin, John O'Brien Carmody's brother too. My father's parents were both Carmody's so it really gets confusing saometime. Martin was my father's father's father. You have my Email address so why don't you answer that way. Carrollton has a nice historical and geneological library . It's open only on Wed. and Fri. I'm about 60 miles from Carrollton. What is your last name? Have a nice Thanksgiving. Mike

But here is what I have and would love to talk to you more. I have been to Carrollton on a couple of occasions and been to the cemetary and church for infomation. Working my way backwards I have: Mary Josephine Carmody b.8-15-1866, Litchfield, IL d. 4-22-1913 in St. Louis MO, married Martin Crean 6-3-1891 in St. Louis, MO. Mary was the daughter of James and Margaret(O'Neil) Carmody James Carmody was born May 10,1845 in County Clare to John Carmody and Honora O'Brien Carmody. James married Margaret O'Neil January 19, 1861 in Carrigaholt, Co. Clare, Ireland. The marriage certificate states that at the time James lived in Moveen West and Margaret lived in Furroor. With John Carmody dying before the Land Valuations I have not been able to track much farther back. There were two Carmody's living in Moveen West at the time of Valuation. Thomas or Michael Carmody. I am unsure as to how they could be related to John. This research has been done for my father-in-law and his sisters. They are full-blooded Irish and I have tried to get all research available for them on all sides of the family.I just spoke with JoAnn and she thought it would be great to go to a family reunion of the Carmody's. Will there be one this next July. I would love to get all of the James side and contact other branches I have spoken to and maybe have a really big reunion. Let me know. Thanks Terry
