    3. Richard I agree with you and think that the Ancestry site has diminished the posting on Rootsweb lists over the last two years. For me Ancestry was the second big breakthrough after finding the Carms FHS list and probably like a lot of other interested parties have now worked out most of my forebears back to individuals born in the late 1700s and very early 1800s. The next 'big breakthrough' will be the digitisation of all parish records and bishops transcripts for BDMs and the completion of the indexing and digitisation of the government BDM records. It doesn't take much imagination to realise that at some stage in the future it will merely be a database enquiry to complete what was a 10 to 15 year slog in a few hours or less: I admit this is an over simplification but a pointer to the direction in which things are moving. The lists that did have a lot of activity usually had much banter on other things of 'Welsh' interest and this has been reduced by certain administrators; I feel that the general type postings could be the saviour of Rootsweb lists and bring back the community spirit. Some of the one name lists I belong to MIGHT have one posting a year! Perhaps the time has come for a small rationalisation of the Welsh county lists! For instance in August 2005, Dyfed [3 counties] had 69 messages. Carmarthenshire-L had 164 [ double the amount of Dyfed] Carmarthenshire-FHS had [410 messages] Probably because the more subscribers per list get a better service or more information per list and/or more enthusiasm on the list, I would have thought that Dyfed probably has more subscribers than Carmarthenshire-FHS because it is open to the public. Whereas Carmarthenshire-FHS is a members only list Any thoughts please? 3. Hi Rhodri See, you are a member and a subscriber, as I stated in my last email, I do not think that anyone is missing out, if a question is not asked we cannot answer them, as most members are subscribers of this list too.... It has gone very quiet here, and hopefully with a 'wake up' call subscribers may get going again. It does not have to be a query 'where is so and so' but just conversation about family history, where do we go to find information that is on line etc....... This used to be a very busy list, but it has gone quiet and I'd like to see it 'perk' up a bit. Anyone out there have any questions then, or stories to tell us, anything at all.. With the online information, I have through a member, who is a member of genes reunited found my mothers cousin who she thought was no longer, sadly my mother is not here to share in my joy, but it is wonderful that we have found him and his family. The internet has really changed the way we live... Thanks for listening, so, lets get going again!!
