    3. Joy, With Ancestry one sees the original census entry; that is the value and saves an enormous amount of time. The person entering the fray these days can achieve as much in a week that it would have taken you years to achieve previously. All relevant records will be accessible to the same extent sometime in the future: indexes are just the start of and only half of the equation. Current downside is that the indexes are error prone and need to be audited. There is sadly also an emotional deficit to this in that discovering a lot of forebears in a small time frame does leave one with no sense of belonging to them; your "collection of names". I have only recently started to feel like this after tracking down a lot of my father's family very rapidly; over one weekend in fact. Must admit I did ask myself if I gave a damn that my x times great-grandfather was a stone mason in Swansea. Only I can answer that and I can't! Still my endeavours have sharpened up my comprehension of Welsh history, locations and the language.
