Hello, Diana, Thank you very much for checking the 1841 Llanelly census for WILLIAM EDWARDS, but it doesn't seem as if this is the one. However, there is a possibility that the DANIEL EDWARDS listed here, born in 1816, could be a brother to WIlliam. I do know William had a brother named THOMAS... How could I go about finding a record of William's birth or baptism? The date he was born is Feb. 27, 1817. this would list his parents' names. I truly appreciate all of the information you have provided to me. Regards, Jane in Cal..
FAO Jane in Cal Hello Jane - I wonder from where you have got his birth information. Mostly it is baptism dates that you can get. Sometimes I have found the birth information written on the baptism entry but not always. I have looked on the St. Eli Llanelly parish register of births and there is no William Edward baptised on the 27th February 1817 in that church. You need to know the town or village in which William Edward was born. Pauline I think told me that St. Eli church was the main church in Llanelly. I would ask Pauline if he is in the non conformist records of Llanelly. If he is there the best way to obtain a birth or marriage entry pre 1837 is if you email archives@carmarthenshire.gov.uk and give them the name and the date of birth and the place of birth ie Llanelly Carmarmarthenshire (?) you can get a copy of the entry of birth. The other way I have gone about it is to pay for a couple of hours search - but again you need to know the area for them to research. When I do it I phone them and pay by credit card but I guess that is more difficult for you. The copies are very cheap but they do have a minimum charge. You will have to ask them in the email how you should pay. with best wishes Diana
