    3. HI Ray What was the point of doing a census, and if you did not participate you would have a fine for not doing so and then destroying them..??     3. Hi Pauline, Statistics, plain and simple. I think it was, with some justification, that there was an absolute promise that details given were under a promise of secrecy and would not be revealed. Consequently, once they were used for statistics they were destroyed. I don't think Genealogy was even on the horizon for the statisticians, it is now thank goodness. Regards.
