Hello Pauline and others, can you help please??? My problem isnt really anything to do with Carmarthen but I thought someone might be able to give me an idea for future searches. What I have is my gggrandfather Henry Delmer born 1827 was a soldier in 1854 when his son George was born in Sunning Dale, Berkshire. The address on his marriage cert in 1850 was the Barracks Newport. I cant find him on any census returns, his son George pops up in durham in 1881 census and his father is down as a miner on this marriage cert in 1880. I'm assuming that the transcriptions could have been incorrect early on, is there any way I can find which regiment was at the Newport Barracks in 1850. regards Marie
