Hi ron do you have an occupation for John Rees Carmarthen is indeed a parish, and in its time a large one, it was known as St Peters Carmarthen........there were three parish churches there.....St Peters, Llanllwch and St Davids, amongst very many non-conformist chapels.... I can look in 1851 for you.......do you have a few more clues....
