Hello Robert, I have found the following excerpt in a book called "Pages from the History of Llandovery': "No. 25 Green Hall, a three-storied house, was built at the same time as No. 27 and there are traces of former communicating doors between the two, an arrangementwhich indicates that they were designed to be let together or separately, as convenience dictated. The house faces the entry, towards Riyston House, exhibiting a plain doorway with a single window above, having sashes with glazing-bars. There are five similar windoes towards the High Street, one on the ground floor and a pair on each of the upper floors. No buildings on the site of Nos. 25-29 can be identified in the rate-books of 1810-1811 but a number of small properties stood on the site by 1813 when they appeared in the background of an engraving depicting Neuadd Newydd. The properties are recorded in the Rate Book of 1836 by which date they belonged to David ZThomas and made seven lettings, including a smithy. There was also a yard on part of the site, then belonging to Stephen Jones, maltster. The present houses were built a year or two afterwards.. Early in 1841, when the material for the Tithe Apportionment Roll wasbeing collected, No. 25 was occupied by David Thomas, probably not the owner. In July of the same year the house appears in the Rate Book as the residence of the Misses Sarah and Charlotte Jones who had previously been living in Stone Street to which they returned in 1844, renting Gloucester House. No. 25 High Street was then taken by John Garner, a printer, who opened a beerhouse on the premises und! er the sign of The Falcon, the name of a tavern previously kept by another printer in apart of No. 29. John Garner made his last appearance in the Burgess Roll in 1855-1856 but some date prior to 1849 he had given up the beerhouse which had returned to No. 29. The Rate Book of 1866 shows David Thomas still owning No. 25 which was then let to Mary Hughes. The name of 'Miss Mary Hughes, Green Hall' appears in the list of private residents in Slater's Directory in 1868. In the last decade of the nineteenth century the house was owned by D. P. Powell. No tenant is named in the Valuation of 1892-1893. The Rate Book of 1899 shows the house occupied by Magdalen and Jane Thomas." I'm sorry that I don't have the other info that you were looking for, but if you like I can send you a picture of the property next time I am home in Wales!! Cheers Sian W.
