    3. Hello Pauline, Sorry to say that I don't know anything important about the family. All I know is that my grandfather, Morgan Rees came to the U.S. in 1870 or 71 to Frostburg, Maryland, he found a job as a clerk in a grocery store. Maybe his father was a grocer too Later he moved to Pa. and opened his own grocery store. His sister Ann also came to the U.S. and his brother John went to Africa to work on the R.R. and was never heard from again, he was killed either by wild animals or natives. Well that's not much to go on so maybe I'll just have to settle for that. Maybe you could check the 1861 census for me. Thanks for your help, Ron Rees ----- Original Message ----- From: "Pauline James" <paulinejames@onvol.net> To: <CARMARTHENSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, January 19, 2006 5:28 AM Subject: Re: [Cmn-L] Morgan Rees,1861, Carmarthen > Hi ron > > do you have an occupation for John Rees > > Carmarthen is indeed a parish, and in its time a large one, it was known > as St Peters Carmarthen........there were three parish churches > there.....St Peters, Llanllwch and St Davids, amongst very many > non-conformist chapels.... > > I can look in 1851 for you.......do you have a few more clues.... > > Pauline > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Ronald Rees" <rdrees@verizon.net> > To: <CARMARTHENSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Wednesday, January 18, 2006 9:14 PM > Subject: [Cmn-L] Morgan Rees,1861, Carmarthen > > >> Hello List, >> I'm still trying to find my grandfather's family in Carmarthen. 3. Ron I suggest that you send an email to the Carmarthen Registrars. Registrars@carmarthenshire.gov.uk I looked on FreeBMD and they have completed the index for 1852 and there are only two Morgan Rees for this year in Carmarthenshire. They both correspond to the birth date you have. They are: Births June Quarter 1852 REES Morgan Llandilofawr 11a 499 REES Morgan Llandovery 11a 467 Explain that you are emailing from the US and ask them if one of these was born on May 12, 1852. If both were you are in trouble! If one was he is more than likely to be your man. Hope this works out.
