Dear Pat. I certainly didn't see your e-mail re Keepers at Dale. It may be just what I need. I was beginning to think that I'd never have my curiosity satisfied. Thnx. Vaughan. Hello Vaughan Thanks for replying - I though I copied direct to you as well as the list so both must have gone astray! Here is another copy of my e-mail - Pat ------------------------------------------- Hello Vaughan Am I right in thinking yourJohn Aveston is the one shown as Assistant Lighthouse keeper at Dale in the 1851 census? At That time the lighthouse keeper is shown as Richard Lloyd. - he was the husband of Margaret Hall , sister of John Hall the Lighthousekeeper at Dale appointed in 1841. Richard Lloyd is also shown as lightkeeper superannuated in the next household to your John Aveston in the 1881 census. The stories of the Hall family and the Knotts, also lighthouskeper plus a family link to the famous Grace Darling are told in a book called "They all live in Lighthouses" by Elizabeth G Roberts published by Gee & son Ltd Denbigh ISBN 0 7074 0121 6 Thought this would be of interest to you although I don't know that there is an actual reference to your John Aveston. Dear Pat. I'm deleting much of my in-box -- copying what's important enough to retain -- and realised that I had not fully answered your letter to me quoting the " They all live in Lighthouses ". It's odd that Lloyd and Aveston lived side by side in Dale when the 1881 census was taken. Once again, thank you for being so darn nice. Have you learned to drive? It gives one a wonderful feeling of freedom. I'll die if I reach the stage when I can no longer drive. Vaughan. Hi Vaughan Glad to be of help. By the way - am I the "Pat" that you mentioned in your e-mail to Pauline? In which case presumably you have another question for me. Feel free to ask - either on list or off list Cheers Pat In message <5AB7A432-C3E1-4D10-BD11-2A2F9878E873@rogers.com>, Vaughan Lewis <vaughanlewis@rogers.com> writes >Dear Pat.
