Pat I could kiss you!! I've been trying to find if this is indeed the family and it must be because on the 1871 I see a stepson, Thomas Grant. He is mentioned on my Mary Williams marriage certificate as a witness. Wondered who he was as Mary married a Davies. So I've got the right person, all I need now is to get the birth of Mary. The Registrar office at Carmarthen were very helpful looking 1849-1851 but no Mary with father Walter??? Then someone said which Llanelli?? On the Census returns, it's sometimes spelt Llanelly but I assumed this was just spelling due to anglocised. But Google says there are 2 Llanelli/Llanelly. So the search continues, at least I know it's the right family, just wondered why Walter was not on birth certificate as it doesn't look any diff. to an ordinary family, if you know what I mean. I've seen wife written Ann in all other census returns, so Jean must just be a misprint.
