Bob, With regards to Benjamin's birth, I have found the following in Llanelly. March Qtr. 11a 586 Llanelly or June Qtr. 11a 638 both in the years 1864. As you have the names of his parents, it won't be difficult to get his birth certificate. Bob, Firstly, I found that Cirhedyn is north of Trelech, which is near Carmarthen. Here is a copy of 1861, it says John Davies is from Abergwillly. Based on what you say, Margaret Davies born 1834 in Trelech to John Davies and Sarah Thomas, I searched 1841 census, and there was only one John and Sarah Davies, living at Abernant is between Trelech and Carmarthen. I give that below as well, and also a possible Margaret Davies in 1851. I would suggest the next best thing is to get a birth certificat for Margaret Davies which you have details of, from Carmarthenshire Archives, which may help you trace further back, also a marriage certificate for John and Margaret which you know the date of from Carmarthen Record Office. Davies born 1864 to a John Davies and Margaret . John worked at a Copper works , I have found a John and Margaret who fit this description on the 1861 census John is 33 and Margaret is 27. John's place of birth is Llanelly, and Margaret's is Cilrhedyn. I found two John Davies to Margaret marriages in 1860 in Llanelly. I checked the Hugh Wallis site and Cilrhdyn has no Margaret Lewis in the age group but four Margaret Davies of the wrong ages . On the 1881 census I found a Margaret Davies of the right age born 1834 born Trelech a Widow with a son Benjamin born 1864 which is the age I am looking for. Benjamin's son Richard Selway Davies married my aunt Lucy Ann (Gascoigne) Metcalfe from Pembroke. I know it is a long shot Bob http://www.free-genealogy-online.info http://www.carmarthenshirefhs.info Welcome to Carmarthenshire Mailing List......... carmarthenshire@rootsweb.com ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to CARMARTHENSHIRE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

Hello list, Anybody familiar with the Rees family from Dafen, Llanelly? Am looking for descendents of William Rees and wife Margaret Roberts. William born 1840 as son of John Rees, Dafen. Margaret Roberts, born 1843, dau of my David Roberts. William Rees died in 1903 at 5 Dafen Row at age of 63. Full death of death 21-1-1903(63). Have also not yet found his burial place. His son Henry Rees was then living at 18 Dafen Row. Margaret Rees may have died in 1920, staying with a relative at Ropewalk Road or something like that. Hope somebody is able to help me. Sincerely, Elwyn - Netherlands.
> Thank you for looking anyway Elizabeth. Yes did arrive at different times. Reason ???? 1. maybe William came out first to prepared for Tabitha and the familys arrival. 2. or "Family Story" Walter was owed a considerable sum of money. He and his two sons walked to Southhampton to recalaim the debt and there met Stirling who sujested that the colony of Western Australia would be a better place to bring up a family. Walter and the boys promply boarded the ship and travelled with Stirling. Once in the colony he wrote home to tell his family to follow. There are several flaws in this story. Especially the timing of Walters arrival return letters and his Wife and families arrival. Walter sailed on the "Egyptian" in Feb of 1830 and Tabitha followed in 1834 aboard the "James Patterson". Walter in Mentioned in the 1832 c aged 47 and possibly a servant to Charles Boyd. No sons are mentioned in the Census. > > Googling Chaplain brought up the following - but I expect you will have > done that already > >> the 'Notes' give a few titbits of info - interesting that Walter and > ~Tabitha emigrated at different times. > > I hope this helps a little > Regards > Elizabeth > >> >> I>> >> Walter JONES b 17 September 1777 Llandefeilog Carmarthen Wales. >>>> Married 27 June 1807 Llandefeilog Carmarthen Wales >>>> Tabitha CHAPLAIN b 24.November 1782.
