Hi Libby, I have come across that quite a few times. It depends what the head of the household has put on the census sheet. I searched for Thomas Samuel but drew a blank, but I have found Elizabeth Samuel, a widow, and her family, address is just named as "Machynis", which is the district where Burry Street was. I will send you the scan offlist, hopefully it will be the family group that you are searching for. kind regards, Sarah. Hi There Has anybody else had any trouble tracing relatives living on Burry Street in 1911? The odd numbers from 19 upwards seem to be missing!! I was checking, after the recent posts, on the Samuel family who were living at no 29 in 1910. Thomas Samuel (1853) and his wife Elizabeth (1851) do not seem to be recorded in 1911. Anybody any ideas why this is so - were some of the records lost? Regards Libby Orme

Hi Robin, I don't know if you ever had a response from someone on the list, but I will be heading home in the autumn, so I will be pleased to go out to Llanwrda to find the gravestone. I will print off your details and let you know what I find. Is there anything else in this Parish that you would like checked? I hope that this wait is not too long for you. I know how it can seem like forever when you want that once piece that can confirm or repudiate your line of thinking. I ope the wait will be worth it for you! I'm beginning to wear on this one, but one last go! Has anyone got details of baptisms/marriages for Llanelli Area? I am looking for a marriage between : Walter WILLIAMS (abt 1816) and an Anne - first child was born 1838. They had children : Jane (1838), William (1839), Thomas (1840), William (1842), David (1845), Walter (1848), Mary (1851). Then I think Ann must have died as Walter appears on 1861 Census as Widower. On 1871 Census he appears with another wife, Jane - sometimes looks written Ann but Jane appears again in 1891. marriage between : Walter WILLIAMS (abt 1816) and a Jane (abt 1826) sometime before 1871. They had children Walter (1865) (so I think the first Walter above may have died?), Margaret (1870). I've found Walter WILLIAMS died 1889 aged 70. They were always living around Wern/Forge, Llanelly and on census said from Llanelly, although I can't find any of them married or baptised in Llanelly itself, may be possible parish outside. Any help appreciated as I'm totally stuck!! and getting a headache over this one! Regards Helen

Sorry Sharon - I got that death certificate some years ago and it is not him! I have been researching Thomas and all his family for years (he left his wife and several children in Glamorgan and moved to Brynamman with some of the other children, but I have not yet unravelled the mystery of why). I have followed up all of the Thomas Jenkins' in the district and the registrar has confirmed that 'mine' is not any one of the deaths. I have also followed up all those in 1901. That is why I am particularly looking for the electoral registers to see when/if he left the area. Hi Sharon He was a coal miner. He was living at Tynewydd when he registered the death of his daughter Elizabeth in 1893, I can't find him in the area on the 1901 census and he was definitely dead by 1906. He was born in 1843 or 1844 (no birth or baptism entry anywhere but census entries pretty consistent) Regards Nina On 21 April 2010 16:55, <Msharonmeek@aol.com> wrote: > What is his date of birth and occupation? the house Tynewydd is not there > in 1991 > regards Sharon > > > In a message dated 21/04/2010 16:25:45 GMT Daylight Time, > ninajenkins19@googlemail.com writes: > > Does anyone know where there may be electoral registers for 1890's for > Brynamman, please? Does anyone know where there may be electoral registers for 1890's for Brynamman, please? It was in the Carmarthenshire PC, Eastern Division constituency then, I think. The British Library only has 1897. I had an idea they were in the offices that are in the Town Hall in Carmarthen but I have been there twice to ask and found it closed both times. I know they are not held at the Carmarthen Record Office. I am trying to track down a Thomas Jenkins who disappeared in Brynamman between 1891 and 1901. In 1891, his address was Tynewydd. He may have died, but I cannot find a relevant death entry, so was hoping an entry, or not, in the electoral register might pin things down a bit more? Grateful for any suggestions Nina
