Thankyou Pauline. Is it only the Record Office that would have St Elli baptisms for c.1836. They only seem available up to 1832 I'm interested in a Thomas Jenkins, s/o William Jenkins & Ann Thomas, bn c.1836 Regards Peter
Hi Diana Thanks for the reply Are all the occurrences of Ebenezer Morris in your records for the same church? If so which church? Regards Peter
Hi All Does anyone know if there is a way to establish at which church a particular Vicar was officiating.? I have a marriage entry dated 1835 performed in "the parish of Llanelly". The Vicar was an Ebenezer Morris. The parish of Llanelly appears to be extensive, was there any sister churches of St Elli's (particularly in the Glyn Hamlet area) or would one have to travel to St Elli's church ? Peter
Hello Jane - my email to your offline address has been returned for some reason. Here it is again Diana ----- Original Message ----- From: diana murray To: rojaphsmca@webtv.net Sent: Thursday, September 01, 2005 6:58 AM Subject: William Edwards Hello Jane - I have done quite a bit of Llanelli 1841 census transciption now. I only have Borough left - though that is about as much again as it is a big district. I have only found about two people with the surname Edwards but no William of any age. I will keep looking for you and obviously let you know if I do or do not find him. It would be helpful if you have a suggested profession for him. Where is Cinderford? Do you have any wife or children's names? best wishes Diana
Hello Pauline, Thank you for your reply, and offer to look for Joseph MORRIS in the 1851 census. At the time of the 1861 census Joseph's age is enumerated as 26 yrs. His age is given as 35 yrs in the 1871 census. By the time of the 1881 census his wife, Mary, is a Widow. There is an entry on free BMD for a Joseph MORRIS died Sept. Qtr 1872 aged 37 yrs. I have not checked this out yet but I think he will be mine. Many thanks, Willie.
Hello list, I would like to thank the fellow listers who answered my queries regarding "Seaside", and the occupation of Joseph MORRIS. Your replies have helped me confirm I have the correct birth certificate of my Gr.Grandfather Thomas MORRIS. Many thanks, Willie.
Hi Peter Apology accepted.........the topic could have snow-balled out of control......will be part of 'history' in a hundred years maybe!!! Willie, do you have Joseph Morris from 1851 census, if not, give me the age you have for him from 1861 and I can look for you...... The Seaside area of Llanelli has changed so much, buildings have gone and been replaced mainly by roads.....the area around Siloah has altered too. My grandfather and family were from Seaside.....and were of Siloah.....surname Harvey and Thomas, but the Thomas's were from Aberdaron North Wales...so not there until the 1870's. Hi Listers This morning I posted a copy of an e-mail I received from a friend concerning the cost of petrol in the UK. I have been reprimanded by the "Admin" of another List I belong to. I think I owe you all a sincere apology for misusing the list. It won't happen again Regards Peter
Hi All All listers who live in the UK may be interested in this e-mail which I received from a friend regarding the price of petrol. The address of Siloah is Glanmor Road, Seaside, Llanelli: so yes as far as Seaside is concerned. Occupations are the same, birth cert is more specific about the job undertaken in the Lead Smelter plant. My record for a birth cert is from Carmarthen RO: mailed cheque and letter day1 and got cert in post day3; Llanelli is usually day 4 or 5 as they post second class and take credit card details over the phone! Hello Dave - thanks for the email - yes they are the names of either two different farms or the same one - I am hoping it is the later as I can put together a better story if it is!! Diana
Hi Pauline and Diane I know that "sydyn" simply means "sudden" in Welsh but I can find no reference in the dictionary to Syddyn or Sylen unless it's an anglicised place / proper name of some sort. Hi Diana.....I am sure that Sylen is a welsh name too, so would not be another name for Syddyn........unless someone else has a different idea? This list has been very quiet over the weekend, must be due to the bank holiday.... Thanks Pauline - I have not so far come across a Sylen in transcribing the 1841 census unless it is in the later part of Borough Diana
Hi everyone - does any one know if the welsh word Syddyn could possibly have been spelt Sylen in English! Thanks Diana
Hi Michael To check if a will is the correct one, the abstracts are in Carmarthen record office......or other record offices that cover St Davids Diocese........or, you could contact Carmarthen record office giving them the name and will number ......is it from our will index or the NLW......as they do differ, we indexed ours from the LDS...... Or, you could send for the actual will from the NLW....do you have any other information on Morgan Morgan.....name of wife, children etc....?? No matter how little it may count....as most indexes that we have do not begin until 1813....excepting the bigger parishes of Carmarthen Llanelli etc.. I have transcripts of other parishes but no Llanddeusant that early.. let us know what info you have Pauline ----- Original Message ----- From: "Michael Bailey" <mike@mikebailey.org> To: <CARMARTHENSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, August 26, 2005 4:16 PM Subject: [Cmn-L] Morgan Morgan > Hello, > > I am new to the list so I hope my request is completely appropriate.
