Hi Listers I'm a newbie to the List and really hope that someone can help break down my brick wall before I end up buying every birth certificate in the GRO!! George Phillips was my Gt Gdfather and was born in Kidwelly c1847/50. He married Elizabeth Evans 1 Feb 1869 in Bridgend and on the certificate, it names his father as John Phillips. I have found him on the 1871 Census at Llangeinor with his wife and first child. He is aged 24 born in Kidwelly On the 1881 Census he is at Long Row, Llandyfowg with his wife and more children. Aged 34 born in Kidwelly On the 1891 Census he's back at Llangeinor with his wife and more children including my Gdfather Philip Lloyd Phillips. Aged 41 and born Maesgwenlliam (sp) On the 1901 Census he's at Llangeinor but listed as George Lloyd age 52 born in Kidwelly! I can't find him (or his father on 1861 Census) I am 100% certain that this is not two different people but because the birth years aren't consistent and the Registration districts are tying me in knots, I've paid for 5 birth certificates and none are the right ones... help! Hi listers, I wonder if anyone can help. My Grandparents were born in Llanelly in 1890 and 1892. My Grandfather was born in Victoria Terrace, Seaside, and my Grandmother in Llwynwhilwg Terrace, nr. Llanelly. I have input both their names into the 1901 on-line census with no results showing. I know they were both alive in 1901 as I lived with them both in Seaside until their deaths in 1945 and 1947. They married in 1911 and their addresses were Union Square and Caroline Street, Seaside. Dear list, I have been making great inroads to my maternal family from South Wales of late. At this time the National Library of Wales reported to me that William Lewis brought his son John to be baptized on 15 February 1772. His stone here in the USA shows his birth on 13 February 1771. The 1850 census indicates that John remained in Carmarthenshire where he married Sarah whose name is shown on the same stone as her husband. By 1850 they are in the USA but I don't know when they came over. This census shows that they had at least one son who as shown below says that his name is William probably born in 1807. There is a stone in the same cemetery that says Cynthia was the wife of John. I don't know who is correct can anyone in South Wales help me sort this out? Please note how they spelled the family surname. We are now searching for John and Sarah with a child William born about 1807. I have written to the cemetery and church where they worshiped for a better glimpse of just who they are and how they are related. This is the spelling that was given to me by another independent researcher whose location has been lost since he changed his email address: L. The others are either finished by all of you doing a fantastic job, or still in the middle of indexing them. This project has only been going for weeks so cannot believe that this has been done when 1851 took 5 years!! You can find some information on the mines in the book called The Industrial and Maritime History of Llanelli and Burry Port 1750 to 2000. Have received the 1871 Census from Gloucesstershire, England, and it lists a Thomas Edwards, 1809, from Caernarfon (or Caermarthen), Llanethly. He was a brother to my G-Grandfather, William. I am researching my Jones family from Carmarthenshire. I have Walter Jones born 17 Sep 1777 Kidwelly. Carmarthenshire who married Tabitha Chaplain born Nov 1782 Carmarthen. Eglwys. Cymmun. Wales. They married 27 Jun 1807 Carmarthen. Llandefeilog. Wales and produced 9 children before emigrating to Australia. I am trying to find Walter and Tabitha's parents and anything else about them that would help my research. Vickie
