    1. Here is a strange name--anyone seen this before?
    2. David Davies
    3. While indexing 1841 Llanwinio I came across a 20 years old female FS called MARESHAH Marks. It is very clear and unambiguous ( unlike the rest of the 1841 Llanwinio) Considering that 99.9% of Llanwinio females are named Elizabeth, Anne or Mary Jones it stands out. Could it be a Gypsy name? Rina--it must be one of your Marks's, she is a FS at Pantyderry fach not far from the other Marks family. In the 1851 I believe she is called Mareshiah ( at Penyrheol and married to a Davies--poor thing) Dave ( no circumflexes allowed in my Ty bach) Davies Boulder CO

Thomas, Drefelin is a brother of my mother's maternal g grandfather, whose roots primarily are in Glamorgan. Cwrt was the farm where my mother's paternal line is from, whose family is primarily from Cardiganshire. My mother's parents, who met in the Rhondda, were cousins without knowing it! 3. Hello Paul When I saw the subject line of your e-mail at first I thought I may have found someone related to my Levi Phillips - but unfortunately not as mine was born about 1810. Is your Levi the one shown in 74 Garth Road Cwmdu in 1881 with children David (24) Margaret (16) William (14) and George (12) If so I have corresponded with someone else re this family in the past. I think this is your Levi in the 1841 census:- Begelly district enum dist 7 Folio 19 Page 11 Bethesda William Phillips 56 Farmer Lab Y Elizabeth " 56 Y William " 15 Y George " 11 Y Levi " 7 Y Do you have any more information to cross check? I can look up my past notes and see what else I can find for you. 3. Hi Helen, The first part is straightforward, but the asterisks are a little more diffficult ... :-) Here's the first section (with some substitutions of the Welsh letters to form words that make sense to me): In memory of Rees Jones, son of Harry Jones, Tyncoed of this place. He died January 21, 1939, at the age of 18 years. I'll try to decipher the last part.
