    3. Hi Pauline Sorry let me explain, I know where he is from 1851 on. I now need to know where his birthplace is in Carmarthshire, I cannot read the name. it looks like SANDERSFOT so I am asking SKS who is familiar with Carmarthenshire to look at the 1851 image to see if they can decypher the town. 3. Hi Helen Yes Carmarthen St Peters is in Carmarthenshire....... Where did he marry from, was it the parish church or chapel or registry office.....if he was non-conformist he would have been baptised in one of the many non-conformist chapels......so it is important information....let us know, I am currently indexing the baptisms of St Peters Carmarthen..... 1. Baptismal Record pre 1837 William Davies
    2. Hi, I wonder if SKS could help me. I am trying to trace the birth of a William Davies. I know he was born circa 1822/1824 in Carmarthen St. Peter's. His father (from marriage certificate) was a John Davies, engineer. William went on to marry in 1845 and at that time and hence forth, lived in Baglan/Neath, Glamorgan. So he may have been there in 1841 but as I don't know any more of his family apart from father, it is difficult to find. Can you confirm Carmarthen St. Peter's is in Carmarthenshire at that time, and also if it would be possible to get a baptismal record either from Registry Office or Archives? Many thanks Helen

    1. Marriage Register
    2. Leslie Bush
    3. Good morning Listers! Todays (sheepishly asked) question is this: I have a downloaded page of a marriage register for 1936 which lists lists the names of BOTH parties to each marriage. My problem is, I don't know where I got it from - I assume I was overcome with excitement at finding this and failed to record that fact. The column headings are "Names of persons married, District Vol Page". So for example, we have "Craigen, George F. Martin Liverpool S. 8 b 220" This refers to the marriage of my Uncle George and his bride, Jessie Martin. Can anyone identity which of the myriad of genealogy sites I could have got this from? Most of the usual sites have only the one name per entry. Thanks in advance Les Bedford UK

    3. Hello Trevor Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. It does seem a lovely area to visit although it wasn't in our immediate plans! A coincidence was that in looking up "Kennedy" I found that it was near Hinchinbrook island, and I live near Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire (England) and there is a Hinchinbrook House there!! I would be so pleased to have the specific contact details that you offered. I do have specific details of the bride and groom; name , age and birthplace and ,of course, the date of marriage in Charters Towers. The Australian certificates were very detailed weren't they? Eagerly awaiting your reply.... Hwyl Margaret. ----- Original Message ----- From: "May Tan/Trevor Gerard" <tangerard@bigpond.com.au> To: <CARMARTHENSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, October 29, 2005 12:32 PM Subject: Re: [Cmn-L] Help from Australia?! > Hi Margaret, > Charters Towers is outside Townsville , a town north of > Brisbane by about 1000 klms Townsville is very hot but a nice place to > "visit " for a short time , and of course its full of Aussies. 3. Hi Margaret, Charters Towers is outside Townsville , a town north of Brisbane by about 1000 klms Townsville is very hot but a nice place to "visit " for a short time , and of course its full of Aussies. Are you thinking of a visit. The Births deaths and marriages are well docunentrd here and are available on line, but like everywhere else you must have specific accurate info to do a valid search. If you like I can get the specific contact details for you. 3. I know it's not strictly Carmarthenshire history, but I wondered if someone in Australia could point me in the right direction? I have "surfed" to no avail.. I have a wonderfully detailed birth certificate from the district of Kennedy in Queensland dated 1918 (not sure if that registration district still exists?) It mentions a marriage in 1886 in Charters Towers Queensland..(I've managed to get some good holiday info about this place, but not a lot else!) Any ideas of how I could go about obtaining this marriage certificate? an address possibly? Hoping for help.. Hwyl Margaret.
