Thanks Pat.....Eve said that David died before the 1861 census......so no luck on that. Llandefeilog it looks to me but as you said it could be Llanddarog or Llangadog......gets worse!! But we do agree that it is not Saundersfoot..... thanks hope Eve can give a bit more information Pauline ----- Original Message ----- From: "Pat Powell" <pat@pcubed.demon.co.uk> To: <CARMARTHENSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, November 02, 2005 5:40 PM Subject: Re: [Cmn-L] Re Saundersfoot > Hello Pauline - and Eve > > I've received the scan - it's very blurry isn;t it? > > I will have a good look at it later this evening but here are my first > thoughts. > > 1. Hello Pauline - and Eve I've received the scan - it's very blurry isn;t it? I will have a good look at it later this evening but here are my first thoughts. 1. I don't think it is Saundersfoot - it doesn't reslly look like that at all - was there any reason that Eve picked on Saundersfoot? amy family story for example? 2. I agree the first letter looks like L and ands with og or oy. e.g Llanddarog spelt Landarog or Landeloy (but that is in Pems) 3. As Eve said she knows where the family were from 1851 onwards then what did David have against his birthplace in other census? When and where did they get married? As Hannah was born about 1842 then David could be in the London area in 1841 - if we knew that it might help - as possibly his family were there as well. Without more information it is going to be difficult finding the right Thomas Jones for his father and therefore more about the family. If Eve has traced all the family from 1851 onwards were there ever any interesting visitors? Are the witnesses to the marriage a clue? That's all for now I'll have a good look at the census page this evening and see if I get a bright idea. Hello Pauline, It is nearly 18 mths since I last communicated with you. Could you help with this request? Thomas Williams, Cooper, and his son Thomas b @ 1831. I have Thomas jnr (my gr grandfather) living in Aberdare 1861. Place of birth given as Carmarthen town Carmarthen. Other census just give Carmarthen. I'd like to find his family so that I could go backwards from there to gr gr grandparents marriage etc. Thank you Helen in NSW

Hello Eve Saundersfoot is defitiely in Pembrokeshire although not too far from tha Carmarthenshire border. There is no place in Carmarthenshire which sounds like it at all. Having many family living on the PEWM/CMN borders I do find that the birthplace given in the census often varies between the two. As your David is an adult in 1841 and I can't see someone close to his age in Saundersfoot - if you have his marriage certificate maybe you could tell me his father's name and occupation and maybe I could find something out for you. His birthplace mat not be the village where he grew up as if he was the first born he could very well have been born in the home of his mother's family. That is quite common. I'll wait to hear from you. pat In message <BAYC1-PASMTP02BDBFF4457ADBE85167DDC26C0@CEZ.ICE>, Eve Ferguson <Coyston@sympatico.ca> writes >Hi Pauline >Sorry let me explain, I know where he is from 1851 on. Hi Pat My David was in London by 1841 so no good. his Father was Thomas Jones The only relevant fact out him is that he was a Tailor. So maybe learned his trade in a specific area. This is terrible and something similar happened to an East London burial place a few years ago. I seemed to recall at the time there was quite a campaign to stop it happening. Did I not read somewhere that graves under 100 years old cannot be obliterated or was that just my fancy. My sister died as an infant 54 years ago and I would be saddened to think someone was going to despoil her grave.
