    3. HI Margaret and Ray How lucky we are.......thank you Ray for doing look-ups in Queensland Australia, yes Margaret.......as everyone knows this is not just a list for Carmarthenshire, but for anyone with interests anywhere in the world......!! I myself will be on the 1971 census in Australia...... Lists have been slowing down of late with so much information on line, it is great that this one has 'woken' up lately....... regards and thanks Pauline ----- Original Message ----- From: "SM Coomey" <smcoomey@bigfoot.com> To: <CARMARTHENSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, November 05, 2005 9:21 AM Subject: Re: [Cmn-L] Queensland BDM > Hello again Ray, > Many thanks for your help, I can "get on with it" now! > That was the birth of the daughter Ivy Eileen, who married into the > LITTLEFIELD family, which I am researching. 3. Hi Margaret, The registration number for the marriage is 1886/000904. There was a birth of Ivy Eileen HATTE 22.8.1887 reg. 1887/005476. I have the Qld Pioneers Index 1829 - 1889 at home. No places are given in these indexes. I go to the State Library most Sundays and would be happy to do some lookups. Most states have Federation Indexes usually from 1889 - 1901, Edwardian 1902 - 1913, Great War 1914 - 1920 and by and large this is where the births end. Marriages and Deaths vary too but generally 1921 - 1945, then Deaths only vary from 1945 - 1985. There has been a recent expansion of the marriage and death indexes in NSW who now have marriages to about 1953 and deaths to 1970 Because I have few direct relatives in Queensland I'm not fully au fait with the details, but I think the deaths now go to about 1970. Anyhow I'd be happy to check for you. 3. Hi Pat Just a thought! David Jones' wife Harriet Tuck was baptised Cof E as were all their children. The Baptist connection only shows when David is buried in Baptist cemetery in Wokingham Berks. 1858. So what if he was baptised Cof E and later converted? or why would all his children be baptised as babies in CofE. Harriet is also buried in Wokingham Baptist cemetery. what do you think? 3. Hello again Ray, Many thanks for your help, I can "get on with it" now! That was the birth of the daughter Ivy Eileen, who married into the LITTLEFIELD family, which I am researching. (She had a sad end, dying of 'flu in the epidemic in 1919 in England). It would be interesting to know if the young bride and groom remained in Australia..I have no idea what happened to them If you do find anything in your perusals I would be delighted! Many thanks again..you never know you might get a flood of requests for look-ups..it could become the Carmarthenshire/Queensland list (what do you think Pauline???):-)). I would be pleased to return the compliment if I can.. 1. David Rees Cwmnatgwine 1901
    2. Bernard
    3. Hi, Wonder if anyone out there has any information on David Rees and maybe his wife Susanna (Susanah, Sue, Susan - nee Jenkins) for 1901. I know that David was 22 years of age in 1881(b.1859) and unmarried. He lived at that time in Cwmnantgwine (House Name), Brynaman, Parish of Llangadock. Also believe that by 1901 he would have had (at least) two childeren David & Thomas (Tom ?). David's father (also David Rees) was a tailor aged 54 (b.1827) in 1881 and his mother Jennet (b.1825) Any help would be appreciated. Bernard Garland

    3. Hi Pauline The one I found was in Merthyr Tydfil - seeing as that was the place where many iron workers were to be found at that time - many of whom would have moved up from further west. This is the family shown at the end of this e-mail - both parents come from Carmarthenshire - their daughter was born about 1820 in Merthyr - but they could have had other children earlier in Carmarthenshire. I have tried , and failed, so far to find them in 1841 - but if they were in the northern part of Merthyr then that section is missing from the 1841 census anyway - just to make things difficult!! I'm not convinced that this is the right family - but it is a possible. 3. Hello Eve yes I have Llanddarog on my list of possibles. Re baptists - they do not baptise young children - so you won't find a record equivalent to a christening in church. I have found one family in 1851 where the head of household is Thomas Jones from Carmarthenshire aged 58 an Iron founder - but haven't tracked down enough to give you the details yet as I don't want to send you on a wild goose chase!!! Will get back to you later. 3. Hi Pat I spent the day at my LDS and searched for anyplace that looked like LANDADAY this is what shows on index, I had not noticed it before. I think it might be LANDEROG (LLANDDAROG) ?? Based on that possibility do you know how I can access BAPTIST baptisms for about 1818. IGI seem to have CofE but not non-conformists The Gazetteer shows IRON also Woollen the area so that fits with David as a Tailor and his Father as an Iron Founder. Any further advice would be appreciated Thanks Eve ----- Original Message ----- From: "Pat Powell" <pat@pcubed.demon.co.uk> To: <CARMARTHENSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, November 03, 2005 6:35 AM Subject: Re: [Cmn-L] Re David & Thomas Jones for Eve > Thanks for that Eve > > Every little bit of information helps. > > Re your first guess of Saundersfoot - apart from it being in > Pembrokeshire I beleive the ironworks were only set up in 1847 so that > is another bit of info agianst it being Saundersfoot. > > I may take a while to mull over the problem - but I'll get back to you > even if it just to say I have failed. > > > Cheers > > Pat > > > > In message <BAYC1-PASMTP04EFDA6739B52EF93ECD17C2610@CEZ.ICE>, Eve > Ferguson <Coyston@sympatico.ca> writes >>Yes Pat an Iron Founder >>Eve >>----- Original Message ----- >>From: "Pat Powell" <pat@pcubed.demon.co.uk> >>To: <CARMARTHENSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> >>Sent: Wednesday, November 02, 2005 6:25 PM >>Subject: [Cmn-L] Re David & Thomas Jones for Eve >> >> >>> Hi Eve >>> >>> Don't you have the occupation of David's father Thomas Jones from the >>> marriage certificate? >>> >>> >>> Pat >>> >>> >>> >>> In message <BAYC1-PASMTP0587C41211183548E1B3FDC26E0@CEZ.ICE>, Eve >>> Ferguson <Coyston@sympatico.ca> writes >>>>Hi Pat >>>>Saundersfoot was just a shot in the dark >>>>David Died in 1858 in Wokingham Berks. and is buried in Baptist >>>>churchyard >>>>there >>>>He married Harriet Tuck (also a Tailor) 19th January 1840 St. Sepulcre >>>>London City. and in 1851 they are in Hartley Row. 3. Hi, I live about 70 km north of Brisbane. The name is Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages and their web site is www.justice.qld.gov.au/bdm I'm not sure if they have the B,D & M on-line yet - I don't use this site because I have no family in Qld. The fee was about $A22. I think that if you have the registration number it is cheaper. If you give me the details I can advise you of the reg number. Regards. 3. Hi Diane, I agree that this is a sad state of affairs..fewer people attend chapel now and with congregations dwindling so do finances. There is no money to continue and preserve. A case in point is the chapel where my grandparents are buried. An aging and decreasing congregation could not maintain the building with repairs often caused by vandalism. My Grandparents' grave stone was pushed over, remounted and pushed over again! Facing this sort of continual problem is expensive and discouraging. Eventually the chapel was sold to developers and there are now flats there.
