Hi Ray, I thought you'd be interested to know that I've received the marriage certificate, and it makes very interesting reading! I notice that some of the information you sent me now seems particularly relevant, especially "Hatte: > > Frederick if. James m. Annie Kirkwood 26.6.1940" This would appear to be the brother of the Groom as his parents are given as the above. Also the bride's Father was present at the wedding, so I should be looking for John NICHOLAS married to Amelia Bristow Shaw,as they were in Australia, but the Hatte parents not necessarily there at that time. I'd be very grateful if you would send me the relevant reg nos . many thanks Hwyl Margaret. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Ray Edmunds" <Wattle@iprimus.com.au> > To: <CARMARTHENSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Monday, November 14, 2005 4:40 AM > Subject: Re: [Cmn-L] Queensland BDM > > > > Hi Margaret, > > First, $24.50 is the total cost and all certs are exempt GST > > > > Secondly, with regard to the HATTES.. Hi Gwenda - I am now just checking that you are receiving my mail - I will send this to the list as well. The bits I sent you yesterday have bounced back to me. Diana
Hello List, Can somebody tell me if Felinfoel School, built in 1863, still exists. And who keeps schoolrecords? Does somebody keep a photo of it? Elwyn - Netherlands.
Helo Margaret I can see your concern here. I have a few Thomas's myself mostly in Pembrokeshire and it is difficult sorting one out from the other. I have been lucky in linking mine to their occupation e.g. mason and rope maker, to make sure I have the right one! With names like David and Mary I agree you need to be clear that these are OK. It was common for non-conformists to marry in the established church before 1837 but with civil registration as you probably know there was no need. Perhaps they converted to Baptist in the intervening period? This is the period of the greatest growth in non-conformity. Finally hope you have look up Cwmbath in Morriston on old maps its at grid reference 266674,198071. I live in Swansea and have never heard of it!! Good luck with the research Glen --- SM Coomey <smcoomey@bigfoot.com> wrote: > Hello Glen, > Many thanks for the suggestions....my original > posting didn't make much > sense as it "slipped out" before I finished it! > Essentially, I am > "revisiting" information I have researched to ensure > that I have > investigated the correct line!! Hello Glen, Many thanks for the suggestions....my original posting didn't make much sense as it "slipped out" before I finished it! Essentially, I am "revisiting" information I have researched to ensure that I have investigated the correct line!! I have a "nagging doubt" about one link early on although the facts seem to fit. The problem is a marriage in the established church in 1871 (Llangyfelach Swansea). Both parties were chapelgoers and were later buried at Caersalem Treboeth and both were born in Carmarthenshire. David HARRIS seemed to have links with Nantycaws, as his son was later known locally as "Twmos Nantycaws". Mary Thomas, according to 1881 census was born in Llanarthney. In 1881 they were living in Mynyddgarnlwyd Clase with a family which included my grandfather. The address "Cwmbath" would logically be Cwmbach as you suggested, but it does exist on moderns maps as being part of Morriston in Swansea...I've tried the street names from there but with no luck.. Many thanks again for your links and I'll see if I can "bridge the gaps" using them! HI Gwyn When you arrive at the contents page you have to click on the parish of your choice.......have you done that? Hi Pauline can you help please, I have been looking on the web site and can only access the indexes for the digital images for 1841, am I doing something wrong. Marie
Just a note to let you know how the Online system works. When you are given your Login & Password, when you sign up, your email address and IP address is also recorded. If you use a different IP address it will only recognise the IP/email address you first use, if you use another PC or IP address it will not recognise the original, this to to protect the system from people using multiple email address and giving there password/login to others. This can only be rectified when I reset the Members Settings and Logons. If for some reason, someone tries to use a members login or password from another source, it will automatically shutdown that Address/Login/Password for that particular member, and you will get not a member reply, until the system is reset. Regards Richard

Hello Margaret I seem to have missed your original communication? A suggestion is that Cwmbath is Cwmbach, there are several in Wales but one is also in Glamorgan in the Cynon Valley near Aberdare. There is also a Cwmbach in Carmarthenshire. For an old map try http://www.old-maps.co.uk/ Do you have birth dates of David Harris and his prospecive wife Mary Thomas and have you tried the 1881 Census on line? at http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=census/search_census.asp Hope this helps Glen Jenkins --- SM Coomey <smcoomey@bigfoot.com> wrote: > Hi Pauline, > received the Glam 1871 CD yesterday..thanks very > much! > I've ploughed through it but no luck so far in > finding my David HARRI(E)S and his prospective wife > Mary THOMAS (to be married 4 months later in > Llangyfelach parish Church). > Any hints on searching??.there is a street index, > but the only possible address I have are > "Morriston" on wedding certificate (1871) for both > parties and "Cwmbath,"(1876) which is also an area > as opposed to a street. Hi Pauline, received the Glam 1871 CD yesterday..thanks very much! I've ploughed through it but no luck so far in finding my David HARRI(E)S and his prospective wife Mary THOMAS (to be married 4 months later in Llangyfelach parish Church). Any hints on searching??.there is a street index, but the only possible address I have are "Morriston" on wedding certificate (1871) for both parties and "Cwmbath,"(1876) which is also an area as opposed to a street. I've tried a few nearby streets from a modern map, but of course many of those streets did not exist then! (Even the ones which I thought were very old!) Would it help to print that area out somehow? Help!! Hwyl Margaret.
