    2. Hello, Is anyone able to help me, either with info or pointing me in the right direction, please? I am trying to locate the birth of a William Davies, born Carmarthen St. Peters circa 1822. He was married and was living in Baglan, Glamorgan in 1845. He married 29/11/1845 and was of full age and his father was a John Davies, Engineer. He continued living in Glamorgan but from Census it states born in Carmarthernshire. Sometimes it stated Carmarthen Town. Any ideas, many thanks. Regards Helen

    3. I think I may have found my greatgrandmothers brother on 1841 census for Llanelli, It says he was born " on the sea". Can I find anymore information about this. His name was Benjamin Samuel and he was 26 in 1841 so his D.O.B would have been abt. 1815.He was living at Seaside and was a copperman. Linda

    1. Re: [Cmn-L] Help finding ...
    2. Pauline, Hi, Thanks again. Now one of his children is my grandfather who, by guesswork and elimination, was born in 1867. ( That I got from his marriage certificate) With all that info, I sent an email to Carmarthen Registrars yesterday,(as you suggested in this email today !) and I'm now awaiting a reply. So I'm going to leave things for now, ( like I did years ago). BTW, I had a good nights sleep thanks. What I have so far: My father b 1907 Llanelly, his father b 1867 Llanddausant, a Farmer, (wife Elizabeth Morgans) his father b 1846 Llanddausant, ( wife ?? wed c1866) his father b 1820 Llanddausant, a Farmer. Wife Rachel b 1824. 3. Ron, how about getting a birth certificate for one of the children, you will know the mothers maiden name, their address and occupation of the father..... To me that seems the easiest way to find them...... Hope you had a good sleep It is always better to go to the registry office where the event was registered much easier that way...... 2. Glen, Thanks for that. I'm going to give it a rest for tonight, been searching for this guy for 11 years. I've spent 8 hours today on the computer looking for him and S.W.M.B.O. is not a happy lady. But your emails have been much appriciated and those from others. I think my trouble is that I'm trying to find too many people at one time. I'm tracing the Morgans as well, but that's another story. I did find a Thomas Williams 1846 that was married in 1866. There was also an other couple on the same page, so I have a choice now of two ladies to pick from. The trouble is I don't know the mane of Thomas's wife. So it's now time for bed. Thanks again. Only know that he married Mary Samuel on June 19th 1801 at St.Elli's, Llanelli. Could not find David and Mary in the Adulam records. Family was at Caeswddu in 1820. Later at Pentrepubir, again later Ynis in Felinfoel,Llanelli. Mary Samuel was born in 1775, but do not know where too. Found deathrecord of Mary Robert in 1865 (90). David was not in 1841 census, so he must have died between 1833-1841. David was in voterslist 1833. Owner of freehold houses and garden, Hengoed Hamlet. Also have not been able to find out where Mary Robert was buried in 1865. Elwyn - Netherlands.

    3. HI Ron On the FreeBMD site press search and on the search page select marriage enter name of father then enter name of mother. Choose the date range you think they were married eg 1864 -1870. If you have some idea of the county they were married in select that county. This will produce the marriages for people who married with those names. One should be yours. However, remember that it is not complete. Details of what is completed are on the information page. Ancestry does not have the spouse facility but is good for births and deaths. Hope this helps Glen --- ronaldw@tiscali.co.uk wrote: > Alayne, > > Thanks for that. I'll give it a go. > > I do have his mother's name, but bear with me, how > does that help? 3. Hello Pauline - tell me about Llandefeilog!! I cannot seem to find out much about the place on line apart from the fact that it is sometimes associated with St. Ishmaels and Kidwelly. Thank you for the baptism of Daniel Davies 1807 - found him at long last - and that took me back another couple of generations on a side of the family that has been a total brick wall between two counties. This is where the great website of the CFHS comes into its own. I had one break and then using the parish records, the 1841 census and the marriage records on line I went down four sides of the family!! I cannot thank you enough for the wonderful resource that it is. I hope you had a good day yesterday! with best wishes Diana

    3. Hi David I only have marriage indexes pre 1837 when everyone had to marry in the parish church before registration. What was William's occupation........do you know his fathers name? You cannot personally view the marriage entries in the registry office, but you can request they check a marriage for you.......if you have his occupation it will narrow the possibilites for you, even better if you have name of father.... another way to obtain the correct information is to purchase a birth certificate of one of their children that was born to them.......this will give you the mothers maiden name.......if a popular name you will need to give address and parish to the registrar.....(address you have on the census) their email address is Registrars@carmarthenshire.gov.uk give them as much information as you have to ensure you have the correct certificate. keep us informed as to how you get on..... 3. Dear All, I have spent two days at Carmarthenshire Record office looking up Vipond,s and Thomas's, Cilycwm registers are VERY difficult to read!!!. I would like some advise please. I need to Find the marriage of William Thomas = Mary [ born abt 1789] William's first wife died April 23 1838 aged 44, William had remarried by the 1841 census. Free BDM gives me three possible William Thomas Marriages at Llandovery but five Mary's Surnames Nicholas, Davies, James, Evans, and Jones. Other than pay for five certs how can I track the right marriage? Llanfair ar y Bryn registers are not available after 1837. Can I go to the registrar's office and look at the registers? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, David Thomas
