Hi Vaughan Glad that I can help....the Pal is a little area off the main Pembrey Road, Danlan Road actually, the area is still there, its a row of houses still standing.... Glad that your grand daughter enjoyed Malta, it is a small island full of history and lots of sunshine, yes I would have met up with her if I had known, if just to pass on 'hello' to you, yes Malta was the most bombed place per square inch in World War II, think they are still rebuilding!! How wonderful to be able to travel the world she is a very lucky person....... Lets hope we all have a wonderful 2009.......always indexing as you know, and without support we would not survive..... regards Pauline ----- Original Message ----- From: "Vaughan Lewis" <vaughanlewis@rogers.com> To: <carmarthenshire@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, December 08, 2008 5:14 PM Subject: Re: [CMN-L] The Lewis's of Pembrey. > Thnx again Pauline. Thnx again Pauline. I'm constantly impressed by the wonderful work you do for so many. Long may it continue. It seems as if Ray was sometimes spelled Rhay. Not too surprising for those times. Must figure our what Pal refers to. p.s. My Atlanta grand daughter has just arrived in Toronto for a one week visit. She has taken a break from her round - the - world trip. Being a southern gal she was not thrilled at last evening's temp. at the airport -- 15 C. Neither is she too enthused at the snow that fell overnight. She was, however, delighted to be in Malta a few months ago. Loved the people and the islands. Told her last night what the Maltese withstood in WW II. and the George Cross received. Wouldn't it have been fun if you could have met. V. Hi Pauline, I'm trying to trace my Lewis family. Rebecca Lewis was born in Loveston, Pembs around 1843. I think she was orphaned whilst young, because I've never found her on a census with her parents (her father was dead before she married according to the marriage cert). In 1861, she's living in Cardiff with her aunt & uncle Rees and Martha Lewis. I know it's dangerous to make assumptions; but I'm guessing Rees is her paternal uncle. He was born in Llandovery around 1821 according to the census info. I would be very grateful if you could have a look for any possible Lewis connections for me. Rebecca's father was John Lewis, I have no idea whether he might have been born in Llandovery. Many thanks, Pauline. Dear Pat. I'm deleting much of my in-box -- copying what's important enough to retain -- and realised that I had not fully answered your letter to me quoting the " They all live in Lighthouses ". It's odd that Lloyd and Aveston lived side by side in Dale when the 1881 census was taken. Once again, thank you for being so darn nice. Have you learned to drive? It gives one a wonderful feeling of freedom. I'll die if I reach the stage when I can no longer drive. Vaughan. Am seeking more detailed interpretation of the word ANNUITANT. , Welsh Guide To Research book indicates that person may have come from a familiy of means and the receipient of a trust fund. G.G. Grandmother Rachel Williams was so listed in 1851 Census. Husband William a supervisor in Cawdor Lead Mine had died. Doubt that they had a pension plan for widows at that time. She was also listed as a farmer at Pentwyn but wonder whether she owned or leased the land....The Cawdors had a reputations for buying up all of the little states and farms in the area...any ideas.???MERRY CHRISTMAS..HAPPY NEW YEAR.....Bill -----Original Message----- From: Neil Hempstead <neil.hempstead@sky.com> To: carmarthenshire@rootsweb.com Sent: Thu, 4 Dec 2008 4:28 am Subject: Re: [CMN-L] Quiet list hello, in response to your plea at this festive time, I'm trying to trace some details on a Margaret Williams (my great grandmother) who was born at Five Roads Llanelli (at least according to either the 1891 or 1901 census) in abt 1848. She married David Morris on Christmas Day 1868 at Rehoboth Chapel (Bryndy?) Pembrey and in 1901 David kept the Gwalia store in Gwalia terrace Gorseinon ( a photo of it appeared on the old Gorseinon website - where has that gone?). Margaret was the daughter of a Thomas Williams, occupation farmer. I'm trying to trace Margaret Williams birth record and other family details, but on the 1851 census (ancestry) there are very few matches with Thomas Williams as father, except for one at Llandilofawr and on the 1861 census records I've had little more success. Similarly I'm struggling to find the birth record details of David Morris, b abt 1843, son of James and Anna (Hannah) Morris who I believe were married in 1821 at Trelech, probably at the Independent Chapel (source IGI). On the 1851 census they were at Trillwm Farm Pembrey, given as 'Abernant'. David had several older siblings (amongst whom Sarah, James, Anne, Thomas). If anyone can help I'd be very grateful. Neil Hempstead, husband of Elaine. -------------------------------------------------- From: "UK Genealogy" <ukgenealogy@onvol.net> Sent: Wednesday, December 03, 2008 1:18 PM To: <carmarthenshire@rootsweb.com> Subject: [CMN-L] Quiet list > Hi > > Is everyone out Christmas shopping as the list is very quiet, does anyone > have anything to share with us.....?? > > regards > Pauline > > http://www.DyfedFreeGen.info > http://www.uk-genealogy-online.com > Welcome to Carmarthenshire Mailing List......... > > Membership Carmarthenshire FHS 2009 now available > > carmarthenshire@rootsweb.com > > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > CARMARTHENSHIRE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without > the quotes in the subject and the body of the message http://www.DyfedFreeGen.info http://www.uk-genealogy-online.com Welcome to Carmarthenshire Mailing List......... Hi Peter yes, I agree that Llanon records are not very good to say the least, I do not have anything for that era sorry.....have you viewed the parish church marriage to see who the witnesses were, maybe a clue?
