Hi Pauline, Just to update you on my attempt to obtain Rees Morgan's birth certificate. After all the information I sent from the 1851 and 1861 census, they still couldn't find the certificate for him, so I still can't find his mother's maiden name. The cheque has been back and fore to Carmarthen Register Office so often, it's now collecting airmiles. I'll just have to keep plodding on. Enjoy the New Year regards Ken
Hi Pauline, Thanks for the rapid reply. I have his marriage certificate, dated 24 June 1851 at the Tabernacle Chapel, Ffairfach. He was aged 23 then and his father was down as a labourer. In the 1871 census he gives his age as 44, and was living at Towy Terrace, Pentrecwm, which I believe is Ffairfach. I had found the 1820 baptism, but I wondered if that child had died, and was later replaced by the Edward, born in 1828. This is where the family tales started, as his parents were supposed to have been workers on Golden Grove and Edward was brought up by them. He was literate, an apprentice cabinet-maker and was able to purchase property. According to my grand-father he also had a private income, of sorts, so the stories started from there. It was one of the reasons I started researching my family history, but couldn't find out if the stories were true or not, but it's been a fascinating journey, nevertheless. Happy New Year Ken
Hi Ken I do not have an Edward Price born in 1828 only in 1820......is his age incorrect in 1841 do you think.....where do you have him on later census returns, what was his fathers occupation given on the marriage certificate, but yes, he was deceased by 1841........if we have the correct people!! baptisms Llandeilo fawr parish church 1814 16 Oct, Mary Price dau Richard and Elizabeth, Llandilo town, lab 1814 16 Oct, Mary Price dau Richard and Elizabeth, Llandilo town, lab 1817 17 Aug Lewis Price as above 1820 27 Feb Edward Price, son Richard and Elizabeth, Llandilo Town, lab 1824 16 Nov Anne Price, dau Richard and Elizabeth, Llandilo town, bailiff..... Anne above died 25th May 1828 aged 4 years Is this Edward, there are no others with father Richard mother Elizabeth....... Could Richard have become a Bailiff in Golden Grove and that is where the story came from Burials Llandeilo Fawr parish church 1839 28th Aug Richard Price, Llandilo Town, 59 years Marriage Llandeilo fawr parish church 1813 31st Oct Richard Price and Elizabeth Thomas I can see Elizabeth and Edward in George Lane Llandilo fawr 1841....she is independant aged 60 and he is 13......the age does not add upto the baptism.....I know the ages are rounded down in 1841.....but he should have been 21......according to the baptism.....could not find another Edward Price in that vicinity..... What do you think, what other information do you have on him? let me know Happy New Year Pauline ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ken Rees" <ken@bathweston.plus.com> To: <carmarthenshire@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, December 29, 2008 4:38 PM Subject: Re: [CMN-L] Thomas Morgan marriage c.1850 Llandilofawr > Hi Pauline, > > I have sent for the birth certificate for Rees, but with the holidays it > may > take a while. Hi Pauline, I have sent for the birth certificate for Rees, but with the holidays it may take a while. But I'll keep you informed, perhaps the I'll be able to trace Thomas' marriage. There is one problem you might be able to help me with. It concerns the birth of Edward Price, born in Llandeilo in about 1828 to Richard Price and Elizabeth (Thomas). I believe I've found his brother and sisters (1814 - 1824). I found him with his mother in the 1841 census, but no father, but he married in June 1851 and named his father, but no mention of him being deceased. There are family stories concerning Edward and connecting him to Golden Grove, but nothing that could be proved. I would appreciate it if you could find a record of his birth or baptism, and if his father was indeed dead before 1841. Many thanks in advance, Ken Happy New Year
Hi Listers I have today received the certificate of the marriage in Dorset 16 July 1919 of Trevor George Jenkins b abt 1899 and Gladys Lilian Hiscock b abt 1895 . At the time he was residing in 17 Walter Road Ammanford and the certificate says his father is William and he returned to 49 Walter Road by the time his second child Philip Trevor Sydney Jenkins was born in 1924. I have been able to find a lot of info on the Hiscock family but I am having problems with the Jenkins line. Both Trevo G and his father William were colliery contractors in the Ammanford area. Is there anyone researching these people or who might have any sort of information that might help. I would be very grateful for any help. Sue Penberthy
