I have not done any research on it but as the Carlon or O'Carlon is a common Irish surname it is not outside the possibility one of them were in the unit and stayed and had a family and somehow you are a decendent of them. I am tracking the Carlon surname and it is certainly from Ireland, possibly Co. Mayo, near the Knock Shrine or near Kiltimagh, not sure and maybe I never will be but the name is well documented in Ireland from the Bards of O'Carolan.
