CARLOCK/CEARLOCK, b. ca. 1779, NC This is in response to the following message from Garey CEARLOCK regarding the possible father of our common direct ancestor George W. CARLOCK/CEARLOCK, b. ca. 1779, NC, who m. Rachel LANDERS. Garey makes some good points supporting his belief that David CARLOCK who was in Mecklenburg Co., NC, 1803, and Warren Co., KY, 1810, was the father of George instead of Henry CURLOCK/KERLOCK who was in Rutherford Co., NC, 1782 - 1790, and was mentioned in a 1787 Mecklenburg Co., NC, court record in connection with the orphans of Christopher LANDIS, grandfather of George's wife Rachel. At this point we do not yet have enough evidence to prove who was George's father. We also do not yet have enough evidence to positively say who was the father of David and Henry, although Frederick CARLOCK (s/o David GERLACH/CARLOCK, Hans GERLACH) of Mecklenburg Co., NC, seems like the most likely candidate in both cases. Does anyone have any additional evidence or theories with regard to the ancestry George, David, or Henry? Sue ... I still say it's David. Take a look below. David was in Mecklenburg Co., N.C. in 1803 and Warren Co., Ky. 1810 Two children were married in Warren Co. with Catherine being born in Mecklenburg Co. Our George was born in N.C. with the county being unknown and married in Warren Co. Since Catherine was m. in Warren Co. in 1809 I'm going to assume that her parents were also there. George was married there in 1805. Catherine's brother John was married there in 1814. Since the date of birth of David and Elizabeth is "before" 1766, the dates could be any amount of time before that. Just 6 years would make them 19 when George was born. There is so much guessing as who George's parents were that I want to go on record as saying I think it was David and Elizabeth and George was their 1st child. I'm still trying to find something to support this. The above is all just my opinion. CHILDREN: 1. probably George W. CARLOCK/CEARLOCK, b. ca. 1779, NC; m. Rachel LANDERS, Oct. 11, 1805, Warren Co., KY; d. ca. 1862, possibly Montgomery Co., IL. 2. probably 3 daughters born before 1791. It is probable that the three youngest children of Rachel LANDERS's grandfather Christopher LANDESS of Mecklenburg Co., NC, were also living in Henry's household at the time of the 1790 census. One theory is that Henry's wife may have been named Elizabeth and may have been found at a later date in Warren Co., KY. This is from memory. I believe another researcher told me several years ago that there was an Elizabeth mentioned in a Warren Co., KY, deed who could possibly be the mother of George W. CARLOCK/CEARLOCK. Does anyone have any information on this subject? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
