With regard to your question about whether or not my CARLOCK/CEARLOCK family of Fayette Co., IL, is related to the CARLOCK family of Union Co., IL, it appears that all CARLOCKs are related to each other unless there was an adoption somewhere in the line. I believe, but cannot yet prove, that my earliest identified CARLOCK ancestor, George W. CARLOCK, b. ca. 1779, NC, is somehow descended from David GERLACH/CARLOCK, b. ca. 1679, Germany, who appears on page 436 of the book "History of the Carlock Family", by Marion Pomeroy CARLOCK, 1929, possibly through David's son Frederick. David was one of three brothers who migrated to America. As far as I can tell, all CARLOCKs, unless there is an adoption involved, can trace their ancestry back to one of these three brothers. I do find a marriage record for your Moses CARLOCK through the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index, 1763 - 1900, at the following URL: http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/cgi-bin/archives/marriage.s. According to that record, Moses CARLOCK m. Mary S. DAVIS, 5 Dec 1850, Union Co., IL; volume I, page 271. However, I cannot find your Moses W. CARLOCK, b. ca. 1828, TN, listed in the book "History of the Carlock Family". The only four Moses CARLOCKs I have been able to find listed in the book are as follows. Unfortunately, the book is not indexed, so it is possible that I could have missed one or more Moses CARLOCKs.
