For those of you who are not already aware of this, Ancestry.com recently purchased Rootsweb.com. In an effort to consolidate resources, they created the new Ancestry.com message board system which combines and replaces the old GenConnect message boards on RootsWeb.com and the old FamilyHistory.com message boards. The new boards are still "Gatewayed" to this mailing list, which means that postings also automatically post to this list. Unfortunately, the new boards do not indicate that the message is coming from the boards, so we will occasionally get postings to this list which appear as if we have jumped in the middle of a conversation. Furthermore, all seven previous categories of GenConnect boards have now been combined into one category. The new boards also require a log-in and password, which can easily be created free-of-charge. These new boards can be accessed through the following URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=main&r=rw. This in no way affects the GenForum boards, which are not connected with Ancestry.com. Unfortunately, I am unable to "Gateway" the GenForum boards to this mailing list, so they require a little more effort to keep up-to-date with current postings. The GenForum boards can be accessed through the following URL: http://genforum.genealogy.com/my/. As you probably already know, all of the Rootsweb mailing lists, including this one, are also archived and can be accessed through the following URL: http://navigation.helper.realnames.com/framer/1/262/default.asp?realname=RootsWeb&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Erootsweb%2Ecom%2F&frameid=1&providerid=262&uid=30003615. Rootsweb also has a search feature which can be accessed through the following URL: http://searches.rootsweb.com/. I also continue to use the "Related Links" section of my home page to list noteworthy links to other sources of information for this surname. The URL for my home page is: http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/t/i/l/Susan-E-Tilleman/index.html?Welcome=994724276. Another useful search engine is the Genealogy.com search engine for the FamilyTreeMaker home pages. The URL for that search engine is: http://www.genealogy.com/ifftop.html.
