This is a follow-up to my May 27th posting regarding Susannah CARLOCK who m. Uriah WELLS. Decatur County Journal September 9, l897 SUSANNAH CARLOCK was born in Sangamon County, Ill., August 5, l82l, and married URIAH WELLS August 5, l837. Twelve children were born to them--seven boys and five girls--seven boys and two girls still living. All were present at the funeral except two boys, one in Idaho and one in Missouri. She, with her husband, moved to Gentry County, Mo., in l840 and lived there until l862. At that time they moved to Decatur City, in this county, and she has lived here ever since. She, with her husband, professed faith in Christ and joined the Christian Church in Gentry County, Mo., in the year l848. Her husband died March l8, l88l. MRS. WELLS had been in poor health for three years and for the last ten months had been confined to her room, at the home of her daughter, MRS. BELLE MILLER, in Terre Haute. She died with comsumption, aged 76 years and 25 days. She was resigned to the will of the Lord. She bade all a last adieu and passed over the river into the beyond. Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church in Decatur City, August 3l, l897, at 5 o'clock p.m., by REV. GEO. E. MITCHELL, in the presence of a large audience. The interment occurred at the Decatur Cemetery.
