CARLOCKs who lived near each other in KY, both having descendants who used both the spellings "CARLOCK" and "CEARLOCK". The George mentioned in Katheryn's posting is listed on pages 438 - 440, and is pictured, along with some of his family members, on page 439 of the book "History of the Carlock Family", by Marion Pomeroy CARLOCK, 1929. According to this book, George, b. 1812, Allen Co., KY, was s/o John, Lemuel, Hanchrist, David. An unusual event is to occur this year in Kentucky. In 1839, three brothers, Samuel J., Edmond D. F., and TraverseArthur Read, all then living in Allen County this State, were married tothree of Kentucky's daughters. All three of these brothers who started onthe matrimonial voyage the same year, and their wives are alive and welltoday, and the six old people propose to have a grand family gathering tocelebrate together their golden weddings. Although the snows of half acentury have bleached the locks of their younger days, and their forms andfaces bear the imprint of old Father Time, the feelings of these sixestimable people are still as fresh as in the days when the brothersa-courting went. She is still alive. We have a large Carlock family. Haden was my grandfather. He married Minnie Etter Miller and they had 4 sons, they have 3 grandsons and 4 granddaughter and 15 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren. One grandson lives in CA his sister lives in Alaska. The rest of us live in Joshua TX, well, I ran away and live four miles away in Burleson. We still own most of John Robert's original land. I also know a granddaughter of the Groves family, she lives in Godley, she married a Staples, all of these towns are in Johnson CO TX. The TX family are buried at Union Hill CEM, Caddo Hill CEM [ some graves are lost there due to grass fires, and the Lightfoot families some are buried in the Lightfoot CEM. next to Greenacers CEM, Cleburne.
