Seeking evidence whether or not the Joseph (1780 - after 1823) and John (1772 - 1833) listed with incorrect dates on page 437 of the book "History of the Carlock Family", by Marion Pomeroy CARLOCK were actually the sons of Lemuel CARLOCK (s/o Hanchrist, David) who was reportedly killed by Indians. This Joseph roughly fits the description of the Joseph CARLOCK found with Henry CARLOCK/CURLOCK/KERLOCK in Rutherford Co., NC, and Campbell Co., TN, possibly a son of Henry. Henry appears to be a probable son of Frederick CARLOCK (s/o David). According to one researcher, DAR records show Joseph to be s/o Lemuel. According to this researcher, the DAR now requests more evidence than was previously the case, and she is having difficulty finding the proof that she needs. Furthermore, the John listed in the book as Lemuel's son also appears closely associated with Frederick's family. John was living near my CARLOCK/CEARLOCK family in Kentucky, including David, probable son of Frederick (s/o David). Both John's family and my family had some descendants who spelled their surname "CEARLOCK" and some descendants who migrated to Fayette Co., IL.
