This is in response to the following message from Garey CEARLOCK regarding the possible father of our common direct ancestor George W. CARLOCK/CEARLOCK, b. ca. 1779, NC, who m. Rachel LANDERS. Garey makes some good points supporting his belief that David CARLOCK who was in Mecklenburg Co., NC, 1803, and Warren Co., KY, 1810, was the father of George instead of Henry CURLOCK/KERLOCK who was in Rutherford Co., NC, 1782 - 1790, and was mentioned in a 1787 Mecklenburg Co., NC, court record in connection with the orphans of Christopher LANDIS, grandfather of George's wife Rachel. At this point we do not yet have enough evidence to prove who was George's father. We also do not yet have enough evidence to positively say who was the father of David and Henry, although Frederick CARLOCK (s/o David GERLACH/CARLOCK, Hans GERLACH) of Mecklenburg Co., NC, seems like the most likely candidate in both cases. Does anyone have any additional evidence or theories with regard to the ancestry George, David, or Henry? I still say it's David. Take a look below. David was in Mecklenburg Co., N.C. in 1803 and Warren Co., Ky. 1810 Two children were married in Warren Co. with Catherine being born in Mecklenburg Co. Our George was born in N.C. with the county being unknownand married in Warren Co. Since Catherine was m. in Warren Co. in 1809 I'm going to assume that her parents were also there. George was married there in 1805. Catherine's brother John was married there in 1814. Since the date of birth of David and Elizabeth is "before" 1766, the dates could be any amount of time before that. Just 6 years would make them 19 when George was born. There is so much guessing as who George's parents were that I want to go on record as saying I think it was David and Elizabeth and George was their 1st child. I'm still trying to find something to support this. The above is all just my opinion. Jesse Whitaker and her father was John Carlock of Simpson County, mar to Elizabeth, I always thought he could have been connected to the N.C. Carlock's but everyone else has him as son of Lemuel Carlock based on the Carlock book. He was born earlier in 1772 and not 1882 as the book states. The book said he came with his Uncle and implied that he was unmarried but I am sure he was married when he moved KY.as someone sent me two sets of Bible records which fit in with the information I had on him. The Skeen Cem records have his birth as 1772, I suppose they could have been misread but the earlier date seems to fit better. I thought he could have been son of David Carlock, who was not mentioned in the boo! k ! > but John D. Carlock who appears on the 1820C was. I have corresponded with others who have found the marriage record and they say that John D. Carlock was given consent for the marriage to Polly Gibson Jan 6 1814 in Warren Co., KY and her father Jacob Gibson gave his consent so both were underage, making him younger than my John. I have the tax lists for Simpson Co., KY and both John Carlock and John D. Carlock were in Simpson. They are not the same person and he is not the son of John Carlock. I think some of the persons I corresponded with thought that Catherine Carlock that married James Hendricks was dau of David but I don't know that any had proof. > Louise > > -----ORIGINAL MESSAGE #3----- > > From: [email protected] > To: [email protected] > Sent: Saturday, February 23, 2002 9:05 PM > Subject: Re: CARLOCK, CURLOCK, KERLOCK, and CEARLOCK Families of Warren Co., KY > > In a message dated 2/23/02 1:28:50 PM Pacific Standard Time, [email protected] writes: > > > > Can anyone identify the Catherine CARLOCK who m.
