    1. Carlocks in MS and AL
    2. Hi List! I'm new. Can anyone help me identify the parents of the following CARLOCK siblings: Roxy Carlock Sarah "Sallie" Carlock William Carlock These siblings are mentioned in an 1868 letter written by my Gr Gr Grandfather. This letter is available online if you should care to take a peak at: http://home.att.net/~littlehouseantiques/mws1868.html I believe that I have identified one of the Carlocks mentioned in the letter, Sarah "Sallie" Carlock. Sarah "Sallie" P. Carlock married William C. Potter on 21 Feb 1877 in Tate County MS. Sarah Carlock is found on the 1880 Census for Coldwater, Tate Co MS, in the household of her husband, W. C. Potter, listed as being age 21 (b 1859) in AL. Also living in the house is Sarah's brother, William CARLOCK, age 16 (b 1864) in AL. Based on the birth date/places for these two siblings, I am assuming that their parents should be found in 1860 somewhere in AL, and that some of the family (perhaps not the ENTIRE family) migrated from AL to De Soto, MS (at least Roxy and Sarah "Sallie" were living there in 1868). If anyone out there researching Carlocks has run across CARLOCKS in AL in 1860 or in MS in 1868, could you please contact me? Thanks in advance for any help, Kathy L. Rhodes Gr Gr Grandaughter of Michael W. Shanahan Gr Gr Grandniece of Sarah "Sallie" P. Carlock & William C. Potter P.S. Would also like to hear from any Carlock researchers whose ancestors were from KY or NJ because the recipient of the 1868 letter was Margaret "Maggie" Anne Shanahan. "Maggie" was a friend of Roxy Carlock and they corresponded with one another. Maggie was in KY in 1868, but she lived most of her life in the Hudson Co NJ area and I'm wondering if perhaps Maggie met the CARLOCK family in either KY or NJ prior to their migration south to AL and MS.
