    3. William BOOK, age 17, b. IL, appears two households away from Elizabeth CURLOCK (nee BOOK) and her children on the 1870 census for Jefferson Co., IL. He is listed as a farm laborer living in the household of John and Rebecca HOUSEWORTH. According to the following source, William was Elizabeth's son by her ex-husband David (or Daniel) CURLOCK: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:868523&id=I1950. This source lists the marriage date for "David" and Elizabeth as the same date listed at the following source as the marriage between "Daniel" and Elizabeth: Illinois State Archives, Illinois Statewide Marriage Index 1763 - 1900, (http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/cgi-bin/archives/marriage.s), "Electronic," Vol. 2, Page 42. Also note that the above-mentioned source lists Elizabeth's daughter, listed as Mary CURLOCK in the 1870 census, as Mary Malissa BOOK. Kathleen *****ORIGINAL MESSAGE #2***** From: "Susan Tilleman" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, December 12, 2001 8:36 PM Subject: David CURLOCK, b. 1839, Bowling Green, KY; probably migrated to Jefferson Co., IL Seeking information about David CURLOCK, b. 1839, Bowling Green, KY, and his ancestry. Descendants found in Jefferson Co., IL. One source says David m#1. Rebecca, m#2 Elizabeth "Bets" BOOK, and m#3. Elizabeth Turman HICKS, and that David had the following children by his second wife: William R. BOOK, Mary Malissa BOOK, John Henry CURLOCK, Melvina CURLOCK, and Stephen A. Douglas CURLOCK. Note that both the families of George W. CARLOCK/CEARLOCK, b. ca. 1779, who migrated to Fayette Co., IL, and John CARLOCK, b. 1782, southwestern VA (s/o Lemuel, Hanchrist, David GERLACH/CARLOCK, Hans GERLACH) were also in the Bowling Green, KY, area, and that many of the same names can be found amongst these lines. The ancestry of George W. CARLOCK/CEARLOCK, b. ca. 1779, NC, has not yet been positively identified, but seems most likely somehow connected to Frederick CARLOCK (s/o David GERLACH/CARLOCK, Hans GERLACH). The spelling "CEARLOCK" (pronounced like "Carelock") can be found amongst both the descendants of George W. CARLOCK/CEARLOCK, b. ca. 1779, NC, and John CARLOCK, b. 1782, southwestern VA.
