His father Hans Michael "Michael" GOODNIGHT married Mary LANDERS, d/o Christopher LANDIS, as his second wife, and his sister Catherine married Henry LANDERS, s/o Christopher LANDIS. Rachel LANDERS, d/o of Henry LANDERS and Catherine GOODNIGHT, m. George W. CARLOCK/CEARLOCK, my direct ancestor. I have not yet determined George's exact connection to the family of Frederick CARLOCK (s/o David), but, based on age, I believe that George was most likely a grandson of Frederick, possibly through Henry CURLOCK who was living in Rutherford Co., NC, in 1790, or a David CARLOCK who is found in both Mecklenburg Co., NC, and Warren Co., KY. I do not yet have much information on either this Henry CURLOCK or this David CARLOCK. Note that a Henry KERLOCK (probably the above-mentioned Henry CURLOCK) is mentioned in the Aug. 4, 1787! , Mecklenburg Co., NC, court minutes in a case titled "Kerlock & the Landess vs. Joseph Rogers" in which Henry KERLOCK was awarded money for the orphans of the above-mentioned Christopher LANDESS.. A search in my database for the words "Cape Girardeau" brings up some descendants of David (or Daniel?) CURLOCK, b. 1839, Warren Co., KY, who migrated to Jefferson Co., IL, and d. Aug. 16, 1906, in AR. Jefferson Co., IL, and Cape Girardeau, MO, are near each other. David's descendants use the spelling "CURLOCK". I have not yet determined David CURLOCK's ancestry, but we know that the following CARLOCKs were also living in the Warren Co./Allen Co., KY, area, at about that same time: 1. Family of George W. CARLOCK/CEARLOCK (my direct ancestor), b. ca. 1779, NC, who migrated to Warren Co., KY, then to Fayette Co., IL. (ancestor of the larger of the two CEARLOCK lines) George's parents have not yet been determined, but it seems likely that he was a grandson of Frederick CARLOCK (s/o David) of Mecklenburg Co., NC. 2. Family of John CARLOCK (s/o Lemuel, Hanchrist, David), listed starting on page 437 of the book "History of the Carlock Family", by Marion Pomeroy CARLOCK, 1929. (ancestor of the smaller of the two CEARLOCK lines) 3. Family of David CARLOCK, b. before 1766, wife's name Elizabeth. A Catherine CARLOCK who m. James HENDRICKS, Oct. 10, 1809, Warren Co., KY, and a John D. CARLOCK who m. Polly GIBSON, Jan. 6, 1814, Warren Co., KY, are believed to be children of this David. David's ancestry has not yet been determined, but he may have been a son of Frederick CARLOCK (s/o David) of Mecklenburg Co., NC. My William Vance Carlock (not the one in the book) was in Cape Girardeau Co., MO. at least by 1820. There was a large group of at least 65 wagons in a wagon train from Lincoln Co., NC that went to Cape Girardeau right about that time. My Wills & McGee families whom the Carlocks intermarried with were from there. I have checked the 1790 census of Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Rutherford and Stokes Co., NC (Cabarrus didn't have one online) and have found no Carlocks in them, though I've read on your site several times they were there.
