    3. This is in reply to the April 24th posting of Scott JONES (jyrene@hotmail.com) and the April 29th reply of Gary NORRIS (gnorris@kih.net) to the Fentress Co., TN, list, on the subject of Reuben CARLOCK of Overton Co., TN; CA; and Woodford Co., IL, and the family of his wife Amy JONES. A chapter titled "Reuben CARLOCK of Illinois and Descendants" appears on pages 450 through 462 of the book "History of the Carlock Family", by Marion Pomeroy CARLOCK, 1929. The book lists Reuben CARLOCK (1795 - 1854) as being the son of Abraham CARLOCK, grandson of Hanchrist CARLOCK, and great-grandson of David GERLACH/CARLOCK. The book says that Reuben is "buried with his wife in old cemetery in Woodford County, north of Carlock, Ill." For further information on this family, see the report on my home page titled "User Home Page Genealogy Report: Descendants of Hans GERLACH/GARLOCK/CARLOCK", Generation 5, person 43, Reuben CARLOCK, his wife Amy JONES, and their 7 children. He won that right to fight by winning a shooting competition. One of those Carlock brothers had a bad hand, but also won at the match. The Overton County troops were all armed with rifles. They were chosen by General Jackson to snipe at General Packenham and his officers. The British general and his staff were mown down. According to my cemetery book Hanschrist was probably Reuben's father. Hanschrist is buried in the Nettle Carrier Creek Cemetery near Alpine. Where was Reuben buried?
