Barb, My Carlisle came from Scotland and did not change the spelling of the name. This may mean that we are all related regardless of the spelling or we may be from different family's. My personal belief is the former strickley because of the small populations and the lack of education and how various individuals spelled the name. Remember that our imagration officers in the 19th and early 20th Century spelled using phonics or their own ideas of how a name was spelled.
