Richard, The mission in St. Thomas was the first foreign mission, along with Labrador, Greenland. In 1731, a St.Tomian Slave, Anthony Ulrich, wa at the court of King Chriatian IV, and met the Count who was impressed by hhis request for religious instruction, and plight of the slaves in St.Thomas. In 1732, Leonard Dober, and other single bretheren was sent to St. Thomas, where they began New Hernhutt. The American missions came after that.
