Thanks Laura. Actually they allow any-one to look up the documents with the usual precautions against damage to the materials. You have to discuss the nature of your research with the staff before beginning. No food and drink allowed, no ink pens. Cameras are allowed but no flash. Photcopying of bound material not allowed. Much of the material is in old German script, so one will have to get some-one who understands old German, and even most young Germans don't. They can do a look-up for you and this will cost $50, every time you ask. Any detailed research has to be negotiated in relation to cost.
