Hi Penny, My source for Martinique census records covers only the 1600s thru abt 1730, and none of your names of interest appear. The only name even close is a Flamand BERNES, 35y, in the 1680 census (while your BERNEZ family was, I gather, still in France). Nevertheless, BERNES is in the Compagnie du Sr. DE VERPRE and resides in the house of Pierre ALBERT & family. (In the index, the name BERNES is followed by "N!" I can't find an explanation for this in the book, and my French is too poor for me to infer what it might mean.) I do have an Edwin ALCEE who was a witness at the 1902 marriage in Castries, St. Lucia between my wife's granduncle James DE JORNA and Wilhelmina LEVEXIER. Sorry I wasn't able to be more helpful.
