    3. Hi Heather, Thanks for the input. I was more interested in spreading preventative computer practices in regard to viruses, rather than bashing either ISPs which do not install anti-virus shields, or implicating companies which produce anti-virus soft-ware. 3. Hi Richard..... I agree with you 100%. I fought with Sprint Canada for a couple of years over putting in antivirus measures......and got nowhere. I am now on Rogers cable and have learned from my past mistakes. I still have Sprint dialup on here and every day get a minimum of 20-30 porn and spam emails.......I use Mailwasher to delete them. (www.mailwasher.com) My mistake was naivete!! I used my Sprint address on news groups and when signing up for things. Never again!! I now use (as Ann Whiting does) a Hotmail address for everything. I check it every day for real questions, but get some spam. In other words.......NEVER use your personal email address anywhere on the 'net. Spambots continually roam thru the news groups and gather them up. Unfortunately, this List is gatewayed to the soc.genealogy.west-indies news group and I get the occasional one thru that 'hole in the dyke'. But short of changing my return address every time I post to this List, there is nothing I can do about it. Just following up......and another thought. I report all spam I receive via Rogers thru www.spamcop.net and they dig down and get the REAL ISP and send a letter of reproof to them. It is a free service and I have used it for years. It is completely anonymous. Just a couple of tips to stay ahead of those durned spammers.......grin. Cheers.........Heather List Admin - ENG-CUL http://www.british-genealogy.com Researching FIGUEROA, RITCHIE, COOPER, McINTOSH and TOUZALIN in Jamaica..... 3. Hi Heather, And don't forget file-sharing portals for viruses. Also it seems almost the case that just visiting any website would attract subsequent spam. But maybe there is some hope yet. I will the link to a story about one guy who is being prosecuted in the US for sending out 825 million spam mail.
