Something else if I remember well you stated that Melita's father was a Cetoute Zingue : have you considered that he might be black or colored ? I'm saying that because Cétoute was the type of first name given to slaves in Guadeloupe. Sure enough ZINGUE might be a variation of a German name like SCHINK but it can also be a variation of ZINGA and it could be also spelt Zingué !
