Bonjour Do you refer to "Personnes et familles à la Martinique au XVIIe siècle" by Jacques Petitjean-Roget et Eugène Bruneau Latouche ? N! means the first name is unknown. "Flamand," then, would not be the prenom, but would indicate that M. BERNES is Flemish: is that correct? By the way, fellow listers, "Personnes..." has proven to be an invaluable resource and though not inexpensive, was well worth the investment (two volumes for 48,78 Euros & 24,35 Euros for air mail shipment). While much (if not all) of the information is available in FHL films, the authors have indexed the names and have freed us from laboring over some information difficult to discern, whether due to the state of the original source, atrocious handwriting, or the quality of the film. I obtained my copies from Hubert de Langle at Mémoire & Documents in Marsailles (memodoc.com/email: memodoc@wanadoo.fr.) I am still looking for "Sainte Lucie: Fille de la Martinique" by Eugène and Raymond Bruneau-Latouche. The book is out of print and M. de Langle was unable to obtain a copy, even from the authors. If anyone has knowledge of an available copy, new or used, please let me know.
