    1. Re: CARIBBEAN Digest,
    2. Hi Chris, ? Thanks for asking but not a lot to work with.? Was actually in Barbados from 29 October to 14 November 2007?as a result of my mum's passing. I visted the Registration section to acquire death?details for Martha and Mary Scantlebury. No?details could be traced for?Mary but?one was located for a?Martha Scantlebury of Josey Hill for 1956 (this is a possible lead and I?will try to?follow up on this one .....but her birthdate was indicated thereon as 1866 and the address mentioned thereon is Josey Hill, St. Lucy). However, the baptismal records at the Archives had indicated their births as 1877 with the address of Glendelough, which would be correct. I also visited the National Archives at Kew, trying to locate enlistment records for a Johnny Scantlebury or? Clarke this would have been my maternal grandmothers brother but this proved fruitless. Please advise how?can one check the Census records for Barbados? I will however continue the trace as?time permits. ?Thanks Cheryl -----Original Message----- From: C.M. 3. Thanks Cheryl! but let me hasten to add before anyone else volunteers that any further projects of this kind would require funding, and probably also access to the original records to verify the transcripts etc. It probably is something that would need institutional support, to be done by grad students or something along those lines; it is not something that's going to happen in the near future! Apologies if I gave the impression that there was a firm project underway! Ernest M.
