    3. Cindy,Unfortunately your ggm's birth in 1896 wil not show up in the IGI (The International Genealogical Index); in fact I have already checked. But you can most likely find it on the microfilmed Barbados Records. I don't recognise the name Goin, but it might be familiar to others on this List. I'm not sure where you live, but if you are in any sizable city you should be able to find an LDS (Mormon) Family History Centre. You don't have to be a church member to use the centres; there you can order the microfilmed Barbados records (they will bring in the film from Salt Lake City) and you will have to wade through the baptismal/birth records in the hope of finding Olive's record. They charge a small fee for bringing in the films, but you can usually ask that they hold them for six months to give you time to do the search. If you are lucky enough to find it, and thus find her parents, you may be able to go back another generation, finding the marriage if any. You might then spot other children with the same parents as you go through the film. Since you know the year of birth that already helps you narrow the search; it would be helpful if you knew what Parish she was born in, but I would suggest that you start with St. Philip, St. Michael & St. George as being parishes where Gittens families tend to be concentrated. If that fails you can widen the search to other parishes. I already know of one Gittens family who moved from Barbados to Trinidad about the turn of the century, and it would be interestting if Olive turned out to be a member of that family! Good luck. 3. The Mormons are also updating their files so that you will not have to order microfilm or microfiche. You will be able to get all the information online. They are testing the program now. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ernest M.
